That's exactly why Swans are my favorite. You can be twice their size and will still fight you to protect their babies. I have nothing but respect for that.

MY goodness!! What a challenge. Quite nervewrecking with the parents so angry. It looks like the Mom got the hook out to get it stuck in her mouth! With those hooks being so extremely Sharp, Wildlife is lucky to have you and your crew able to help them! Thank you for risking life and limb to help that baby. I don't doubt the parents would have really done some damage if they could have gotten to you

Swans are so protective of their young. Such beautiful birds. Glad they were OK but I wish anglers would clean up after themselves. Too many ducks and swans get injured or killed by discarded fishing line.

One time, I recall Simon returning a cygnet to its parents, but they were so focused on attacking Simon, that they hardly noticed their wing-swipes were also hitting their own child. 😧 How terrible, it would've been, if they broke its neck, mere moments before its second chance in life, in their rage.

I mean, there are stories of swans driving away bears when protecting their babies... I think a riot shield would be a proper accessory.

@@seriousspikesam7770 Unfortunately there have been several occasions where they have also killed people by drowning. Always when they are nesting or have babies, so it can actually be rather dangerous. I'm always caught between cheering him on and glad that he's never alone when he does things like this.

@@animehuntress9018 They're not that dangerous if you know what you're doing. Maybe if you're a really bad swimmer, fall into the water wearing clothes and boots and don't know how to handle a swan... Simon and the other people from WAF know what they're doing tho.

😂😂😂😂 .it's like a cats hiss. It's really upsetting to still see that people are still leaving their fishing stuff in the lakes and rivers. I tried to get a bird rescued last year that had fishing netting wrapped around it's beack but didn't make It, the next day when it was finally caught and the rescuers found many more birds with the same issue.

It's quite possible that only one hatched - sometimes it is like that, especially with young parents who struggle with keeping the eggs warm enough. But look at the bright side - the lonely cygnet is going to be spoiled rotten by its dotting parents :D

No. You'll get bruises at maximum. But they are should not be underestimated. If you are swimming and swans decide to attack you, they could drown you, especially if you are not a strong swimmer and it's deep enough water.

Eggs and young birds are easy prey for many animals. I know most ducklings don’t survive to adulthood it might be similar in swans. Plus humans add a lot of unfamiliar dangerous things Like wire fences and fishing line and so much more. You will see animals get stuck in so many different things on various wildlife aid videos
