Babylon began as a small town, flourishing and growing into a great city under the Amorites. It is found in Aram Naharaim. The city was conquered by the Assyrians, but emerged independently after defeating them. Babylon then founded a great empire, which lasted up until the conquest of the Persians.
The people worship several great gods, including Marduk and Nabu, Ishtar, Ea, Sin, Shamash, Anu, Ellil, Adad, Girru, and Nergal. Their main festivals include the Akitu New Year festival. The gods rule over the land, with the people being their slaves. Upon death, the people enter a shadowy underworld. People fear ghosts and demons, and invoke the gods in daily life.
Babylon is built alongside the great River Purattu, and includes the mighty ziggurat temple of Marduk, the Ishtar Gate, and many great temples and monuments. The kings are great conquerors, but are not cruel like the Assyrians.
