You need to know the lyrics, the meaning, the whole picture in order to get your "whole" self into it. It is great music to be sure, but the crowd doesn't even know what the fuck she's saying. And, the music is really new to them - the blending of so many genre's at one time, has them in a bit of awe as well, perhaps. I enjoyed watching them, but can't sing along, have no idea of what she's saying, so it can only take me, so far.
This is so great, just SU, no backup no effects just full blast beautiful voice, it's so addictive, why?? She is so amazing!

I'm a 51 year old who's been into the hardest, most vicious metal there has ever been since the age of 11...and I have NOTHING but good things to say about this group. I'm constantly impressed with their uniqueness, professionalism and attention to detail. They are bringing new people into the metal community that might otherwise miss out on what the genre has to offer in the way of outstanding (and, dare I say it....superior) musicianship. While I would never say anything disparaging about the new young lady in the line up....she's doing great and I am grateful she is there... I will always miss Yui.

@@going4u2 The reason she does not wear microphone is her timbre does not fit the concept of BabyMetal, the mix of infant voice and distorted roar. Riho Sayashi, the new girl, age 20, an ex-prime-member of Japanese famous girl-pop group produced by Tsunku(tsu-n-khu). She happens to be alumna with su-metal at ASH(Actor's Studio Hiroshima). The girl-pop group with Riho was far more popular than BabyMetal in Japan and had much more supporters for the group and herself, but, after she quit the group 2015(much earlier than expected), she lost the chance to access the stage, with supporter's regret. 3 years later, the dance has made her survive here but the voice continues to be a Tsunku's consequence. He trained and produced many girl singer-dancers so that his timbre melted into their voice, which is some childish but exotic. This kind of exotic impression can not be included in public acceptance especially in western context. That has to collide against the concept of BabyMetal. Many Japanese knows her voice, and it's not only natural she does not sing here, but also with some compassion and expectation. The expectation of growth means authentic fan motivation in Japanese "IDOL" world, that nurtured also BabyMetal that were low-teens. ... No rain, no rainbow.

She sounds even better in other festivals like download, aftershock, rock on the range and even better yet in fancams from indoor concerts like at the forum, brixton etc. If you want to hear her true vocal capabilities search up Megitsune acapella, sumetal being a legendary vocalist, or just any fancam / proshot of the many concerts they did.

I actually liked it. It was bad, but it was good to hear. You can actually hear other parts of the music that are usually muted or lower, it gave it a raw real live sound. Like when you are too close to one guitarist to hear the other. The best part was you can hear what's REAL! This band faked it for years. The kami band was their first real name that played live. And her voice was great too. You could hear HER without hearing her recorded track over her or the back up tracks. I don't think they ever sing live. But not listening quality. So you are correct. Terrible listening quality, awesome fan quality!

This wasn’t the FOH mix. It was from the BBC broadcast truck. Not sure what was up there. They also only had a feed from one of the kick mics which made the double kick sections sound really bizarre. From videos people have posted who were actually there, it sounded really good on the audience side. BM has a really awesome FOH mixer and crew.

@@matusszabo3141 Occasionally there are people who say it is like "songs in one song", but if you sang it in an open-air supper carrying a buzzing back and sounding it, the voice would be cut off in places, and it would be audible I from. @Get Real Politics Living in Japan for almost 15 years, the idol groups always made me feel uneasy - too much sexualization of young girls to my way of thinking. Babymetal, however have never sexualized the girls in costume or dance or music lyrics. They have managed to keep kawaii away from sexual. To me they have always been just fun and cute and great music.

I imagine there are many more comments about Riho because she’s actually in this video and also the one with the most established fan base from her previous idol days in Morning Musume. But the other two are both really good too. I wonder if they’ll eventually fully replace Yui with someone who also sings/chants (since it looks like the 3rd member just dances) or if BabyMetal continues with the two + backing band and touring dancers. While I really love Su-metal’s voice, I think Yui and Moa add a unique element and it would be awesome to have two again. Not that Moa isn’t doing a good job by herself! She’s doing great!

I feel like SU was using magic to give the lyrics soul. Especially when she sings loud (for example, "Tatakaunda (Fight)", "Hashilé(Run)", etc.) the meaning of the words becomes clear. Moreover, almost all the lyrics of her songs are pronounced correctly and clearly, making them easy to understand. If you want to learn Japanese, I highly recommend you to listen to BM.SUさんは、歌詞に言霊を乗せられる魔法を使っているみたい。
