_Wasshoi wasshoi!_ _Wasshoi wasshoi!_ Welcome back to the Foxhole, I was hoping for you to follow our suggestion to go back and listen the old hits from early era to appreciate more the evolution of this group. Anyway this song is cool to hear them coming back to their kawaii metal roots and is the last song they released last year outside of latest album also released last year. We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, they performed this at the recent World Tour 2023 and getting the crowd going bonkers. The live debut was at Apocrypha - Another One exclusive show prior to the track release last year, it was fun and totally unexpected, everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it. There's a live proshot version at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka released in the official summer sonic but it's heavily blocked, thankfully we got this live version now. You'll notice some slight difference between the live and the studio album wich also got an official MV. And yea, this was filmed in the same festival called NEX_FEST at Makuhari Messe, Chiba - Japan, a festival held by Bring Me The Horizon (you already know about them from the guide) during four days around Japan, they also played Kingslayer together and you can see the official MV at BMTH place which also got the same director and editing style. The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when MomoMetal is doing the Kabuki moves style. Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festivals when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya in Megitsune and Karate. Tom Morello is a guitar legend behind some legendary bands such Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave and many more projects, you can also see him as one of the boss fight in Guitar Hero 3 videogame. I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts. Next suggestion: - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV (2015) - Megitsune official MV. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘🏮

Great reaction! This was a a solid live of this song, love it! A few points: 1). Definitely 1 performance: Nex Fes, same show as Kingslayer. 2). Compilation videos are usually done by unofficial channels to avoid KZitem copyright issues. 3). Metali = Matsuri (Festival) + Metal, it’s a made up word mash, that’s why translation software gets confused. 4). Song Lyrics Paraphrase: Fun Metal festival song, Babymetal calls on all the boys and girls to form a circle, to dance and sing like crazy, because no body is going home today! 5). Chants: These are typical chants heard in Japanese Festivals. “Wasshoi!” for example, is commonly shouted repeatedly by a group of people in synchrony while carrying/lifting parade floats. 6). Su’s vocals are definitely live, minus a few minor tracked portions. I can hear her pronounce words slightly differently vs Studio. Also, don’t forget, Su’s been singing live for over 13 years while performing choreography. This ain’t her first rodeo 🤣. 7). Tom Morello: Legendary lead guitarist for Rage Against the Machine. He was on the giant video screen, and comes in with the guitar solos after Momo’s “ARE YOU READY?!” Tom turns his guitar into “turntables”, and that is his unique, signature style. Hope that helps! 🤘🦊

As best I understand it, メタリ (metali) is a mash-up of the words "metal" and まつり "matsuri" (festival), meaning it's a "metal festival". They characterize this amazingly well with the energy of the song and the chanting of わっしょい! (wasshoi!), which is a Japanese cheer that brings people together for a common purpose to work in harmony together. Another interesting note is the dance you see MOMO perform near the end of the song; this is a throwback to a traditional Japanese theatrical performance style called かぶき (kabuki) dating back to the Edo period, I believe. Also... since you're on this exploration of amazing music, you may want to check out Rage Against the Machine; Tom Morello is a legendary artist hailing from that band.

Su is singing live, but all their official live footage is pitch-corrected and the sound is perfected. I think all official music releases are nowadays, even re-releases of famous singers from the 60/70s have been tweaked. I did however see Babymetal twice last year and I could not hear any difference in the quality of her singing. There are instances of very minor differences, it would be strange if there wasn't, but nothing you will notice while enjoying the show.

This was filmed the same day the Kingslayer video was filmed, at Nex_Fes in Tokyo Japan. The producer of the Kingslayer video also produced this video which is why there is similar editing going on. You’ve seen Babymetal at their most recent, you should take a look at something like Headbanger from the Legend 1997 concert or Road of Resistance Live in Japan to see some earlier stuff.

"Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi!“ Great reaction. The song title translates as 'Metali' (or 'Metari') which is a fusion of the words metal and matsuri (festival). The song is about a Metal Village holding a metal festival, so they have included all the matsuri shouts everybody would be calling out as encouragement to the people carrying heavy floats etc like "Sore, Sore", "Dokoisho" and "Wasshoi!". They are inviting us all to dance - I am reliably informed there is something in the lyrics (Su sings it and it is in Momometal's kabuki section) about we are all idiots or fools - the idiots who watch and the idiots who dance ... so as we're all here and we're all idiots why just watch, we may as well all dance. This was filmed at one of the NEX_FEST events around the start of November last year. The editing and camera work is all over the place, but it was a live performance with all the live audio (tweaked a bit in post production no doubt, but I doubt anybody who was there would notice any difference to what they heard on the day and what we hear now). Tom Morello (guitarist from Rage Against The Machine) was the guy in the white t-shirt and hat on the big screen behind them and the Kami Band West were on guitars, bass and drums.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri 祭(festival) to stoke people's exhilaration and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi (神輿) on their shoulder that is a kind of a float in Western style festivals. The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri" → Metali. And if you want to know the deep meaning of the lyrics please check British-American Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley). When it comes to BABYMETAL, everybody prefers live rendition to studio MV. This performance was filmed on Nov.3 last year in the festival curated by Bring Me The Horizon. (If this video included cool instrumental intros by Western (American) Kami Band, which are played at every venue, it would be prefect.) This song was one in the setlist performed all of the shows in the North American tour (29 gigs) with Dethklok and EU/UK tour (20 gigs) and other gigs. I appreciate the devoted support by Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint (and Ryan in NA tour). Momometal's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style with her growl thereafter gave an amazing accent in the exciting repetitiveness.

Babymetal “メタり” Metali (feat) Tom Morello:- Babymetal have joined forces with Tom Morello of "Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage, Lock Up, Street Sweeper Social Club, Axis of Justice, Class of '99, Shandi's Addiction" for a new single ‘Metali’. The new song is the latest in the Japanese kawaii metal band’s series of star-studded collaborations, and sees them partner with the Rage guitarist for another up-tempo, electrifying track. The group first teased the release last week and, according to the press release, ‘Metali’ is “officially the first song by the newly reborn” group - now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL. It also confirms that the single was created with the vision of their crowd forming a circle pit at a metal festival this summer. Babymetal - METALI (feat. Tom Morello)” was released as a digital Single in 2023. The Japanese Title “メタり” has a distinctive style of kana usage. It is written as the nominal form of the made up verb “to do metal”. This song is characterized by the classic metal style of the Japanese band, combined with some j-rap touches that distinguish it from previous releases. And of course, the subject gets more frantic through the classic guitar style of Tom Morello, which fits quite well in the musical LYRICS TRANSLATION:- ROMAJI:- metamura matsuri no meta ondo matsuri da, matsuri da, yottoide wakka ni natte, wakka ni natte pi-hyara odorou! metamura nikisan nekisan mo matsuri da, matsuri da, yottoide wakka ni natte, wakka ni natte minna de utaou! so-re sore sore dokkoisho! odoru ahou ni miru ahou onaji ahou narya odorinnchai so-re sore sore dokkoisho! odoranainnja utainchai utawanainnja odorinnchai koko de odoranya odoranya odoranya kaerenai! odore! odore! odore! sore sore dokkoisho! yurase! yurase! so-re! so-re! utae! utae! utae! sore sore dokkoisho! sakebe! sakebe! so-re! so-re! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! nete mo samete mo dokkoisho! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! wasshoi! neko mo shakushi mo dokkoisho ~~ odoru ahou ni miru ahou onaji ahou nara odoru de shikashi koko de odoranya itsu odoru metari metari ~~ dokkoisho! dokkoisho! wasshoi! wasshoi! … ENGLISH TRANSLATION:- It’s the metal-village festival metal song festival, festival, come together make a ring, make a ring let the party horns dance1 brothers and sisters of metal-village too festival, festival, come together make a ring, make a ring sing together like that, like that, heigh-ho2 you’re a fool if you dance, and a fool if you just look on, so let’s dance3 you have to dance and become a fool like that, like that, like that, heigh-ho you have to dance and sing you have to sing and dance everyone has to dance, dance dance, we don’t go home. dance, dance dance, like that, like that, heigh-ho shake it, shake it like that, like that! sing, sing! sing! like that, like that, heigh-ho! shout, shout! like that, like that heave-ho! heave-ho!4 heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! the people asleep wake up and heigh-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! heave-ho! everyone and anyone5 heigh-ho! ~~ you’re a fool if you dance, and a fool if you just look on, so let’s dance but if you dance to also be a fool when you dance do the metal, do the metal! ~~6 heigh-ho heave-ho! ….
