Good reaction. BABYMETAL blend so many different musical styles and genres in with the metal (and they don't stick to just one or two metal genres either) - and yes this is their Ska-Metal offering. As road-runner already said, this was a fan made compilation video (and not one of the best if I'm being honest) with clips from many different concerts from 2015 to 2020. The more red you see in the costumes the further back in time that show was. You like the happy vibes of pop? With BABYMETAL you can get happy metal vibes, unlike most metal they are not all doom, gloom, angry or bitter. One of their most recent songs is about a Metal Village holding a metal summer festival (matsuri), that one is all about fun. Look for the official live video for 'Metali!' - they even have Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine featured as guest guitarist (unfortunately not there in person). Shame you didn't take your friend to see them last year - they played 29 concerts as they toured the US and Canada (they played 94 concerts in 25 countries last year). I'm sure they will be back (in fact I know they will, they already have festivals and at least a small handful of concerts scheduled for this year) - they have toured internationally every year since 2014 apart from when it was not possible to tour after mid 2020 through 2021 and 2022 ... but they were back and catching up with lost time last year.

One can tell Moa really likes the intro with her singing along. I really like Su- coming in to the opening verse with that short bit of scat.

Nice reaction, thanks! This is one of my favorite songs. For some reason, the ska mixed with metal totally works for me. "YAVA!" or "yaba" or "yabai" means "dangerous" or "awful" but here is used more like the expression "Oh, no!". Although the lyrics are pretty much obscure I believe that the song is about being, acting and, most important, being perceived as "different" in a culture where not looking and acting like everyone else is seen as weird (in a bad way). The word "chigau" (they say it a lot) means "different" and also "wrong". And saying it with the repeated hand gesture they do in front of the face means that something is not acceptable. So, it could be related to their own history, not being a "normal" or "usual" band at all. About the ages topic, this is a compilation video with footage from 2015 to 2020. That also means that Yui (who doesn't perform with them since 2017) was in some of the footage and the designated "Avenger" on the rest. For reference in 2015 (red tutus) they were 17 and 16. In the latest footage (2019 and 2020) there are two different Avengers: Kano Fujihira who was 14 at the time and Riho Sayashi (21 back then). If you prefer poppier, they have it. And sillier, crazier... that's part of the fun. So, I suggest you to try "Iine" (with capital "i"), the official music video. 😁 Until next time! 🤘🦊

@@イム-d2b Okay... and the gesture following the "chigau"? But yes, I'm probably totally wrong. I'm not saying they are not free, I'm just interpreting what I think it's the meaning of the song. Like when salary men keep buying the same best selling suit because everyone wears it. I've seen it first hand. But, understood, it's not my culture and I see it from another perspective.
@road-runner

@@イム-d2b Yes, you expressed it perfectly. 😊 I don't support my interpretation on a literal translation. I use Du-metal's translations and notes (see his blog), the spreadsheets of Capable Paramedic (for example) and Professor Andrew Hartley's videos here in YT. This is the one specific for "YAVA!": kzitem.info/news/bejne/zJ-Yna6cZoedmaAsi=k6XYZX1ng3iEDfDg But it's always good to have other points of view. 👍
Thank you for the recommendation! I'll definitely check that out :D

"Pippo pappo pippo pappo piii" 🦊🤘🔥 Welcome back to the Foxhole Alexa and also to your friend.❤ YAVA! (actually Yabai!, It's a contraction) means like "oh no!" or when describing something dangerous or surprising. They're fusing ska genre and metal in a way no one did before, the cuteness and charming of our girls is unmatchable. The Kami Band intro in this one is super fun, Mikio Fujioka-sama (the guitarist) doing some magic here. (R.I.P.) It's not the best live compilation out there and there's another one better around with footage of Five Fox Festival 2017 and mixing up with Big Fox Festival 2017, that was the last live performance for YuiMetal. They played this song several times with the new avengers system after YuiMetal left the group and more recently a couple of weeks ago they did at Legend MM celebrating MomoMetal's 21 birthday at Yokohama Arena.🍑 "Chigau" in the lyrics is the temporary title fans gave to this song when live premiere without knowing the song, the word means "different" and totally fits with the meaning of the song, this could be a song talking about them, you know the surprise factor of being different. Next suggestion to have some more fun: - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. See you next time!🦊🤘 ❤

Thank you for your wonderful comment. I think that the "KAMI Band" at this time had the best members. The technique of all the instrumentalists was world-class. There are many overlapping videos, and the singers were 15-17 years old at the time of the Red Frill Skat video. They are still growing up and touring the world, and are very popular. Please enjoy them.

Of course this a compilation video. But the track is from Big Fox Festival in Osaka 2017. It was the last show for Yui. She has not been seen in public since. It was also the last time the East Kamis ever did an intro to a song. They took them away the follow shows in December that year. The first Guitarist is Mikio Fujioka. He died in the beginning of 2018 due to injuries from a fall.

It’s pronounced “yah vah” Asian vowels are more often than not pronounced Ah , ay, ee, o, Oo. Edit: the harshness of the internet makes this statement come across mean in “ tone” That was not my intent. I merely wished to pass on a pronunciation guide that is useful in how you try to say words in the future.
