Ingredients for Bachelor Style Chicken Gravy:
- Chicken, curry cut pieces with bones- 1 Kg
- Onions, chopped- 2 medium
- Ginger Garlic paste- 2 tsp
-Green chillies - 2 nos
-Mint - Hand full
-Coriander-Hand full
Tomato paste:
- Chopped Onion- 1/2
- Red ripe tomatoes 5 medium
- Fennel seeds- 1 tsp
Powders:
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder- 2 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder- 1/2 tsp
- Pepper powder -1 tsp
- Oil- 4 tbsp
- Salt- 1 tsp
Preparation:
- Chop the onions and quarter the 3 red tomatoes
-Coarse grind the chopped onion ,tomatoes , green chilli and fennel seeds. Continue to blend it into a smooth paste.
- Avoid water while blending the paste
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan/kadai.
- Add bay leafs, star, fennel seeds and cinnoman stick .
- Add the chopped onions, green chilli, curry leaves and fry on medium heat for 5-6 mins till translucent.
- Now add the Ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 mins on low heat.
- Add chopped tomatoes and fry on medium heat for 7 mins until it cook well.
- Add turmeric, red chilli and garam masala and mix it well. Fry it on low heat for 1 min.
- Add chopped mint, coriander leaves
- Now add the chicken pieces, mix well and stir it on medium heat for 5-6 mins till the chicken is browned well.
- Add the salt and mix it well.
- Now add the chilli-tomato paste, mix well and fry for 5-6 mins on medium heat till oil separates.
- Add the Garam Masala Powder, mix and cook for 1 min.
- Add 200 ml water, mix and cover & cook for 15 mins.
- Remove the lid and add pepper powder, mix and simmer for around 10 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and mix well till the curry turns thick and brown.
- Serve with chapati or rice.
