Short running session with the Bachmann Class 66 and Hornby VEE cement tankers.
One of my favourite consists on the layout, the 26x Hornby weathered VEE cement tankers, the ‘D’ couplings have been removed and replaced with Hunt magnetic couplings providing better spacing between wagons, these wagons also have metal wheels so a drop of oil on the axle will prevent squeaky wheels which can be annoying on a long rake of wagons. The rear tanker has a Train-Tech flashing led light with the battery fitted within the tanker it’s self.
The reason I like these wagons is that they are still modern rolling stock seen running today, secondly you can purchase them at a reasonable price on eBay with the average price of £15 per wagon (in 2022)
They are produce mainly as factory weathered wagons and normally come as a pack of three, occasionally you will find single wagons and without weathering.
I prefer the 3 pack weathered version which you can pick up for around £40 to £50.
Eventually I plan to apply more weathering and cement streaks to the tankers for a more realistic look.
The sound of the Class 66 is the actual sound decoder fitted to the loco, however the sound of the tankers is taken from a real VEE cement tanker rake and was added to the video to add realism.
