It's good to see somebody put in the time. Especially on a weekend. IMO, no matter how well or poor the catch may be, it's the connection with the outdoors in such a unique environment that keeps me going back. 98% of this country will have lived and died without expieriancing what's in our backyard. I guess they can claim the same in the end. I can't wait to get back out there. 😊

Thank you for watching and all the tips brother! I'll hit Channel 2 next week. I honestly haven't fished it very much, maybe 3 times and I've probably gone at the wrong time. Somebody told me the water is deeper at channel 2 but I'm not sure if that's true. I Thought Long Key was the deepest.

The first little guy was a wrasse (looked like a pudding wife). Ornamental, can't keep them or use as bait. The second, was a definite bar jack. The black line extends into the lower (caudal) tail fin, that's the easiest way to distinguish between a juvenile yellow jack and bar jack since they both have the blue line. I have these arguments online all the time 😂 Bar jack you can use for bait, but we don't. If you catch a little bonita, though, your fishing game will go up 20 notches. They're usually around bar jacks in open water. Fresh bonita... You'd kill it! Whenever you catch your elusive mutton, like your wife, I don't like fried fish. I like it filleted and sauteed or baked. Our muttons are big boys so the fillets usually get cut into chunks and we pan fry or panko fry one half and sautee the other half. We also had it at our neighbors recently and they put it in one of those huge aluminum pans over sliced potatoes and covered in sliced lemons with all the sazones. OMFG. I'm not a paleontologist so I don't like to dig through my fish with bones when I'm eating, but that was deliciously outstanding. They made it in the BBQ grill. Out of control. Have you tried fishing the bridge with pinfish? This is around the time of year we start seeing the big big muttons underwater. If we don't spear them, we fish them with pins or filleted ballyhoo. And bonita. Hay hambre, you gotta hit'em with everything!!

I’m going to try pin fish this week at long key. I’ve been able to catch pinfish, but I’m having issues keeping them alive. I’m not sure what it is. I’m not sure if I need a stronger aerator or if they just don’t last long in a 5 gallon bucket. I’m definitely going to try the Mutton that way that you’re talking about. Sounds amazing. And thank you for all the tips brother. Big thank you!

@@305FloridaBoyFishingsister! You're welcome, dying to see you catch a big mutt to take home to your family! There have to be YT videos that show how to keep them alive on bridges. Something similar to a livewell, no se. They can be finicky, but the great majority do fine in the boat livewell for us. The pilchards, forget it. Maybe drop a live bucket in the water with a rope and only take out a few at a time? There has to be a workaround. Si no, bring a fish tank and you can start selling the idea and the extra pin fish if it works 😂

Yesterday was using cut ballyhoo, size 4/0 hook. Couldn't keep bait on the hook but couldn't hook them. Switched to smaller circle and ended up w a few shorts at dark. If you know anyone in or around Florida City I have some chum and bait they can have.

Not a yellow. It looks like it but it doesn’t have a yellow tail and it has a blue stripe on top. But I’m not %100 sure.

Yellow jacks are delicious. No matter how you prepare them.
