That fluid was never changed at all ! You did a great, clean maintenance job on replacing the clutch fluid ! 🇵🇷

Thank you! My clutch isn't properly engaging after I serviced the indicator switch.. I thought I might have messed up the cabling inside the switch housing or something but the fluid looks empty so will give this a go.

When I replaced the chain and sprockets on y 09 VFR 800, the piston popped out of the slave cylinder. when trying to blead the system after replacing the piston, the force was pushing on the clutch and no air coming from the nipple, so i removed the slave, and clamped the piston with a soft faced plastic clamp, rotated the slave cylinder, so that the nipple was vertical, and it worked a treat

That's crazy, I have never experienced that before but I will keep it in mind for the next time I am working around the clutch on this bike.

Should have rebuilt the slave cylinder and the clutch cylinder too

@@raykirchdorfer5452 why, when the bike only had less than 10k miles on the clock at the time, and there were no issues with it since

ty for showing me how to do it. ive never had bike and didnt know this. i thought these 2 are for brake fluids omg... but i guess only the right one is for the brakes. i guess both front and rear brake are with the same fluid on the right handle
@ToModorNottoMod

Correct! Also I did know show additional step because these bikes have linked brakes front and rear. This is not unique but is not usual either. No matter what that helped a ton to avoid having all that debris go through the entire system. Thanks for your comment!!

That's the way to do it. I had that HF one and it worked well but one day stopped building vacuum. I definitely need another one

I do have a question. Mine is a 1994 model VFR 750 rc36 and stood still for 7 or 8 years. I took it home on a trailer last week and noticed the clutch handle doesn't have pressure at all. The battry ofcourse is dead, needs new fuel, oil, oilfilter, .... TLC. Do you think changing the clutch fluid, and cleaning it is enough or do I need to do more? It really feels like no one is home. The clutch could be stuck too after all those years...

I would change the fluid to start. Chances are you get lucky and builds pressure. If it sat for so many year I woukd consider changing the lines eventually, but if you are at least trying to get it going to test it at home etcetera change and bleed it and you might be able to get it working again. Regarding the clutch, I would change the oil and see what's in there, if you are mechanically inclined you can open and check the plates but see how it feels first before you go crazy dissasembling everything everything. I want one of those too 😩. Lucky you

why stop there, your slave cylinder is just as bad and it's calling for a rebuild.

True that. I needed to flush the entire linked system.
