When I paint there is paint everywhere, including on myself. This week I was painting all kind of scratches and rustspots on my boat (steel 36ft kets from 1956). I used the trick I saw Aladino do in some videos ( a piece of tape over the tincan to remove to much paint from the brush so the tin stays clean) And tried do do it relaxed, so no hurry (new concept for me but I am partly retired and live on it, so time enough) and after I was done painting there only is paint at spots where it needed to be. Keeping the tin can clean kept my hands clean while moving the can around the deck and no paint drops on all the places the tincan was put down (and then ends up under my feet and from that all over the deck...) So thanks Aladino for that great tip. Learned a lot from watching him.

@pa4tim Me too! I'm the MESSIEST painter that I know. I decided many years ago that I'm just an idiot when it comes to painting. It's ok when I've finished and cleaned everything up but the process is always such a MESS!

@Max C Her voice is one reason that I began watching this channel. So calm and calming. And then her MUSIC! So different from every other sailing channel. Find the vid where Maya gets "angry" with some idiot comments about Aladino's command of English. Haters gotta hate. But her reaction is so mild. They are so suited for each other and create wonderful vids.

A slightly off white is a good choice for the decks, it reflects the sun yet is less dazzling than pure white. I have cream tinted decks and for the boat they're a good choice, and they don't show up marks as readily as white.

Aladino Welcome back to Eurolandia! Enjoy!! Little hint for taping around tight radius corners before painting or filling with compound---- use fine line detail tape for the first layer. Something like 1/4" or less will stretch and bend around a much cleaner small radius than conventional masking tape.

Good luck with your job, and welcome to Sweden. :) . The best side of the Swedish west coast is from Gothenburg and north, so I would choose Denmark up to Ålbäck and aim for Torbeskär and touch Källö-Knippla, then Marstrand. It is absolutely most beautiful from Hållö and the north. Källö-Knippla has a harbor party around 15/7 and is a fantastic experience with lots of music and dancing.

Lovely, I am a relatively new fan and your videos are wonderful. I would also have chosen to paint instead of re-laying the teak, it is pretty but so much work. The re-fit videos are great because I am learning so much about boats, and you do such a good job of explaining why you make the choices you make. There are a lot of sailing videos, but very few people doing the kind of quality of work that you are doing.

I'm way into both boat building and chateau renovation. And if there's one thing I've learned from all the chateau renovation channels, it's that lime mortar is excellent for filling up gaps, and it really breathes. Which means that water vapor won't build up behind all your hard work, and you won't have to re-mortar your entire boat ten years down the road. You're WAY better off "caulking" your "seams" with lime mortar than with concrete.

Mv/Geordie, yes a bit harder to get and I think irrelevant regarding black as well a trim ring I believe covers in this instance. I did break it down at 15hp trying to fix my prop. West Systems epoxy also failed. I have not seen the white yellow or photo degrade, just tends to get dirty. Paintable.

Great to see you guys back in the Netherlands after the Maud episode last year. The boat and episodes are looking great as always! It's also great to see European (Especially Dutch) sailing and culture represented in English-speaking media. I feel like too many Americans rely on preconceptions about Europe rather than experience, in order to shape their perspective (For example, I thought of Heineken as German, not Dutch, up until this video). Have fun in Scandinavia, and good luck, -J

@17:42 Though teak looks nicer, it is the right conclusion. The silicone would have haunted you, and any other successive owner.👌 @19:47 Aesthetically it will contrast nicely with the mahogany, but I would have chosen a slightly darker color as it is gentler on the eyes for days at a time when the sun is out.😎
