Angle, while not a big guy, was still heavier and taller than Gable. He also picked up pro-wrestling far quicker than anyone in history. He had the mic skills and character pin downed from the get-go and most importantly he won gold at the olympics with a broken freakin’ neck. Chad can’t say the same despite being an Olympian himself. And while Swagger is worse than Gable in every way, he was freaking humongous. He had a look that Gable can’t possibly hope to compete against. This is the man that made Rusev look smaller next to him in a face off. I think (if I recall correctly) the Corbin situation was the exact opposite of what you said. Reportedly Corbin had verbal disagreement with a WWE doctor (not Nowinski) during a meeting/presentation because Corbin felt that the WWE was maybe downplaying the risks of concussions and CTE. And at the meeting/presentation Corbin reportedly mentioned the NFL concussion lawsuit (which Corbin was a part of as a former NFL player). And that is what may have ended Corbin’s push. If the reports of this event are true, I would imagine (though it’s just a guess on my part) that Corbin mentioning the NFL concussion lawsuit was what specifically caused the de-push (more so than the verbal disagreement or any heel work he was doing on Twitter). Either way, it wasn’t because Corbin was downplaying the risks. Although this was years ago, so I could be misremembering some things. But I am 95% sure Corbin was speaking out because he was so concerned (and rightfully so) about the risks of concussions and CTE.

@jayr5277
Жыл бұрын
Let’s see: - Veer needs so much more polishing. - Humberto and Buddy are both firm midcard performers. They can put on great matches but don’t have much of anything that allows them to stand out. - Corbin’s biggest problem is how mid he is. He’s big but not “Woah” big, he can have solid matches but not great ones, and his promos are just OK I guess. Putting JBL with him might help him finally break out but I dunno. - Shorty G was absolutely a momentum killing gimmick and I can’t believe he’s bounced back from it. I thought he was gonna get future endeavored but Alpha Academy eventually became a redemption act for him. - think Billy Gunn was the Attitude Era version of what I said Corbin was. He was very average, especially for Attitude Era standards on the mic. Put him up against a real Star like Rock and Austin and it exposes it. His Mr. Ass gimmick didn’t help. - Another part of Mero’s issues were injuries causing him to change styles. He was able to do some impressive high flying for a guy his size at the time, better demonstrated in WCW when he was Johnny B. Badd, but IIRC ACL injuries caused him to become more of a generic brawler throughout most of his WWF tenure so he didn’t have much else to help him standout from other guys on the roster. - Scott Steiner’s WWE run was kinda sad TBH. - Johnson really was his own worst enemy. A victim of his own early success who also tried to do stuff in the ring he really should have eased up on and maybe save for bigger matches. - Eva Marie was just wrong timing. If she were signed a decade earlier she probably would have developed into one of the company’s bigger women’s stars but because the Women’s Revolution was just around the corner she didn’t really have a fair chance though that’s partially WWE’s fault as well for putting her on TV kinda quickly.

I honestly think Eva could’ve worked but she didn’t need to be a face she worked a lot better as a heel and her having a bigger person being her bodyguard that she just put into her matches so she didn’t have to wrestle was good she was getting better in the ring and on the mic the only thing that killed her was the storylines and the fact that she was in the ring way to much she was getting better in the ring but that doesn’t mean she was good they should’ve given her more time. Also I think a person you missed was Lacy Evans great heel good in ring worker friendly behind the scenes ( Eva is to I’m pretty sure ) she could’ve been a top star too if she wasn’t rushed to the top and given the stupid feud with Charlotte ( not ric turning on her honestly Charlotte deserved that for what she had done to him just the whole thing of Lacy romancing him ) but still she was great.

Yeah the muscle came after thr injuries. A young Scott Steiner is one of the greatest in ring performers of all time. By 1996 he was losing the ability to move from injuries and started bulking up to keep his career going

You mentioned Veer being 6'3 and as the next big man like Big Show or Kane? 6'3 would make him shorter than the Rock and HHH. Definitely not a giant lol
@siddharthaxX

HHH and the Rock are actually 6'1 and 6'2 respectively. But Veer is a real 6'3 unlike some wrestlers who have altered their height by 1-2 inches

Billy Gunn was always underrated and my favorite DX member. But during 1999...him being at the top was not in the stars. WWE just didn't put him in the right storylines.

Ahmed Johnson went to WCW after disaster in WWE... And that turned out to be even bigger disaster. His run as Big T in Harlem Heat 2000 was one of the worst ideas ever. Luckely, the idea was dropped after just a couple of weeks and Johnson, along with most of Harlem Heat 2000, were gone from WCW.

Veer: Lack charisma promo skills and his wrestling style didn’t mesh well with the new one of today’s environment EVA Marie: lack skills promo skills and well boring and uninteresting Buddy Mathew’s: lack promo skills height requirement at the time and lack a interesting gimmick he was just a lackey to Seth Chad Gable: amazing in the ring decent promo skills but in a place like WWE that everyone has a tougher time standing out makes it impossible maybe if he changed his style to a more aggressive and technical style and ditch Otis I see potential Ahmed: lack promo and skills in the ring injury prone and got hurt easily and attitude issues Steiner: injury prone couldn’t move do to his years of injury’s and had attitude problems alongside his amazing horrible but funny promos and the fact they pushed Steiner as a face yeah no smart Corbin: great skills but he’s a bit idk boring he’s depressed gimmick was funny no top guy gimmick but he’s a reliable mid-card guy

I would have killed to see Gable have a competitive match with Lars Sullivan. The only good thing about the squash was that it brought back the Chad Gable we know and love today.

It is just wasteful. Why use all that money to pay wrestlers and create video packages, when you don't have a plan? It is obvious to anyone with a brain and eyes that someone like Humberto is just not worth the spot. He can do flips and kicks alright, but he has no personality, character, gimmick or basic charisma. Seriously, you can put anyone in that position.

Even The Rock would be impressed with how over Billy Gunn has gotten in 2022. They put Steiner in a world title feud too quickly. He hadn’t wrestled in awhile and he was dealing with injuries. Letting him get his week wet for awhile and THEN maybe having him feud with Triple H would have been better imo. A super athlete and also genuinely charismatic guy like Chad Gable being reduced to “Shorty G” was 🤦♂️ Eva Marie’s problem is that while her gimmick can work for a bit, it also has a short shelf life.
