Hey y'all, Justin and Lilly here,

Last week we finished trenching in a new electric line to repair the shorted circuit to our Well Pump. Now that we have continuous running water again, we can get back to work on our off-grid house build.
Now we are getting back to work on our pier and beam floor.
We finished installing the blocking for the floor joists so the floor framing is officially completed. Now we are moving on to install the subfloor sheathing. We chose to use 3/4 inch tongue and groove OSB sheathing. We went with Weyerhauser Diamond OSB, which had the highest rating for long term weatherability. We need the subfloor to be extra durable and weather resistant because it will be exposed to the elements until we get the walls and roof installed.
We take our time laying out the first piece of OSB, because if we get this piece right it will help to ensure the rest are square with the floor and will fall in the center of a floor joist.
We are using Liquid Nails subfloor adhesive as a bonding agent between the subfloor and the floor joists. This will ensure maximum strength for the subfloor and also help to prevent squeaky floors in the long run.
Installing the first few pieces of OSB goes slowly, but we work together and we pick up the pace as we get into a good groove.
After completing the first row of panels, we fire up the tractor and load up a bunch of panels to raise onto the floor to make the process more efficient.
However, we first have to inflate a tire, so Justin tests out his new portable dewalt 20V max tire pump.
The kids are actively involved and always helping, watching and learning about the build process. We are all so excited to see the floor coming together that we are actually able to stand upon!
Thankfully, the Dewalt Nail Gun decided to behave, so we were able to make really good progress with minimal interruption.
