This was great, Jordan! We got to where it took us ten minutes tops to post her ears! I recommend your video to all new Dobie owners that crop the ears.

Jordan your video was my favorite video on ear posting with Backer Rods!!!! Thank you so much! Im a little confused as to what glue you put on as I have always done with tampon and tape around it. I like your method way better. Can you explain exactly what glue it is how much you put on, how you take off the glue etc.

I know I’m 2 years later but just had a couple questions ! Do you only need 2 pieces on the post and not cover the whole ear ? Should I use adhesive or the technique where you fold the tape and wrap the post so it’s sticky on the outside ? How often do these need to be changed... same as the tampon method ? (2-3 days or wet ?) Thank you for a great video !

It really depends on how crazy your dog is or if their posts fall off their ears but I recommend three pieces I used it he said technique where I fold the tape on the outside so it's sticky that helps hold my dog's ears up I would change them at least every 4 days let it air out for an hour or so then post again

Can you suggest which adhesive to use that you mentioned? Your baby is a beauty ❤️ our boy is 8 months now and it’s been a ordeal with posting we’ve had vet doing posting and his ears still aren’t standing... they keep telling us to play sounds to make his ears stand 🤷🏼♀️ and basically said it’s on him for them to stand ...

It depends on the length of the crop but I usually post until 11 months old. You will start posting as soon as their ears are cropped as puppies.

Help!! I cropped my dogs ears about 7 months ago. 3 days after the cropping they got infected and have a foul smell. So what I did is go to a different vet so they ended up removing all the tape and in deed they were infected. So after that I let them healed. So after they healed I retried posting them but someone my dog alway scratched it to the point were it would get infected again. She is a year old now and her ears have not been posted. What can I do now? I know it will take a while for her to get used to them since she is old. But as soon as I post her ear she shakes her head and ends up taking them off.

If they fall off with shaking or the dog is able to get them off, it's because you did not post them correctly. It's probably too late at 1 year old - the odds are slim they will ever stand. I realize this post is old, so I'm commenting for others that have similar issues. Infection also means you did not do the posting correctly. You should have had the vet do the posting for you for the first month or so until you learn how to do it properly. I post twice a week - so it may be costly - but it's worth it since you took the time and money to crop in the first place. Hopefully you had her cropped before 10 weeks.

They should never be wrapped right after cropped. They need 2 weeks to heal. The stiches come off, then one more week for scabs to clear before you can even start posting

My vet/cropper tried doing the same bs , freshly cropped and wrapped him up/posted fresh out the gate. In 2-3 days foul smell and yellow oozing. Took him back he cleaned him, sterilized and re wrapped even after i told him not to wrap until after its healed and stitches come off. His response was “then they wont stand” after i got home and doing research on doberman forums i quickly removed the wrap/postings. Within the next day everything looked better once they were airing out and healing. Never went back to that jack off only after 10 days to remove stitches. I and learned to post myself.

cruz R it depends on how long the crop is. We posted June until 7-8 months. With zero breaks between posts. Every time we take posts out we clear the ears, let them dry (15mins) and back in posts.

cruz R June’s crop is medium too. If you stop too soon or before 6-7 months of age they ears will most likely start to fall a few weeks after the ears are out of posts. You have to post all the way past the teething phase. Do you have FB?
