This is VERY useful information. That being said, the music in this video is awful and too loud and distracting. Please use different music ...or no music at all. Ultimately though, this is EXTREMELY useful information as I NEED to change (or get rid of altogether) my leaky backflow preventer. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure this is an anti-siphon valve. It will KILL your pressure washer. I recommend bypassing if you're in an area where the pipes don't freeze.

My vacuum breaker is defective just like that one. I haven't been able to take it off because the set screw is in the back where I can't get a drill to it. Thank you so so so much for the dremel idea. I'm going to try this.

Take the set screw out before you put in the new one, when you try to unscrew it later, it WILL break off. They are not designed to unscrew.

is it supposedly to leak out water when you turn the valve off

Question....Do backflow preventers get locked up after releasing back pressure? Mine sure seem to seize up pretty easily even though they are pretty new. It doesn't look like they can be reset so that water flows out the hose as it should. Thanks for the video.

Are these meant to spray everywhere when turned off? I thought mine was damaged and replaced. But it still sprays water everywhere when I turn off the hose. I hate these things. Also you can drill a hole in the set screw to remove

That prevent leaks but by plumbing definition - is that really a 'back flow' preventer? It's just a new coupling, right?

Hey guys my spigot in my garage came with a backflow preventer on it and every time I use my hose it sprays water all over the drywall in my garage when I release the nozzle. How do I prevent this or remove it altogether? Thanks.

The splash comes when you turn water off, you didn’t show that at the end of the video.

Fuck. I wish I would have seen this about 3 hours ago. I ended up pipe wrenching mine off screwing up the threads on the faucet. And it's sweated in. So yup. Gotta replace the whole damn thing now. Grrrrrr. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to have a breakaway set screw in the first place?
