Jacob and I do a one night backpacking trip to the amazing McDill Point viewpoint, in the Talladega National Forest, near Mount Cheaha State Park, Alabama. We hiked the Cave Creek and Pinhoti loop route with spectacular views all around.
The hike starts at the Cheaha Pinhoti Trailhead, near Mount Cheaha State Park and begins as gentle walk with occasional views to the southeast and then climbs more steeply as you reach the spine of the Talladega Ridge. After topping the ridge, we joined up with the northbound Pinhoti Trail and took that to McDill Point which is an amazing viewpoint. After getting our tents set up, we were racing the sunset but had a beautiful evening taking in the view.
The next morning, we packed up and had breakfast at the McDill Point viewpoint before heading northbound on the Pinhoti Trail. We had view after view off to our left as we completed our loop and returned to the parking area. This time of year there is very little water along these trails, so make sure you carry all you might need.
All drone video was shot in the Talladega National Forest outside of the Cheaha Wilderness.
