Feels like I've stepped back in time to places I'd nearly forgotten as I'm watching this full rich video. I grew up in that area and walked many of those same trails that you all did, and in high school a huge group of us climbed up to Hensley in clear weather and basically slide back down in 6 inches of sleet and snow. I promised God a lot of things just to let me survive - lol. Thank you for holding the majesty of it all in such reverence and for your gift of filming. Great treat for me.

Thank you for sharing the story! Those sound like great times, and I'm glad I could take you back there for a little while. I appreciate knowing that we aren't the only ones who've had that kind of experience on the mountain. I'm glad you can relate to our prayers for survival, haha. Thanks again for watching and commenting. It's always appreciated.

I can’t tell you how much I’ve been anxiously awaiting this video of our adventure from your perspective!! What a wonderfully beautiful, thoughtful take on our snowy trek along the Cumberland mountain. I actually had to take notes to remember all the shots I wanted to let you know how extra cool and creative they were, haha! Love the state line swirl from Ky/Va @ 3:50; seeing that lonely, brave tree through the fence at Hensley @ 8:49; you perfectly captured the emotion of how I felt when I woke up at looked outside my tent @ 11:39. Your comment about our silhouettes reminding you of wraiths from the Settlement is an Edgar Allen Poe-worthy piece of prose, right there; all the many shots of snow falling off trees like dust were mesmerizing; I love your choice of the ending song @ 25:20; and ALL the bloopers were pure gold, and you even threw in a “TWSS” from Nick which is hilarious!! When I watch your adventures, I often wish they could be twice as long because I don’t want the enjoyable viewing experience to end! Wonderful job on this one, Chad. Thanks again for allowing me the chance to share an adventure alongside you! Can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you, as always, for all the kind words. I'm flattered, and I'm glad this one lived up to your expectations! The shots you mentioned are some of my favorites, too. I think the tree through the fence is my favorite of the entire video. I'm glad I captured some of the feeling of waking up to the snow: that's exactly what I was going for. I found myself wishing I'd gotten more shots of that morning, but it was hard enough just walking around, haha. I remember we talked about getting some shots of the snow falling off of everything, so I was thrilled when I looked through the footage and saw that I got it. I tried to include as much of it as I could. As soon as I heard that song with the harmonica, I knew it needed to be the ending theme, haha. This probably won't be the last time you hear it. This video has my favorite bloopers, I think. I couldn't stop laughing at the one where my camera falls over and we all start laughing. I'm glad to hear you appreciate the writing. It's pretty cool that these videos have given me an excuse to smuggle my urge to write into something, haha. And hey, I'm not opposed to making a 60-minute video! We'll see what happens next time! Next month maybe!

Wonderful! Thank you for such a beautiful sharing of the adventure. Like the tree through the fence, there are many shots that would look great framed and hung on the cabin wall. You captured the remarkable nature not only with an eye for the beauty, but with words that smoothly portrayed the awesomeness of the mountain of snow. The photography, narration, music and sounds of the scenes brought the experience to me with a sense of reality. (This is a big deal, since I am sitting in an easy chair at home with no deep snow between me and the fridge!) Thanks, again, for the adventure. You got some talent, strong legs, and good fellows to hike with! Great work!! Samuel calls me The Senator. I’m glad he linked me to your video. Really great!

Thanks so much for the kind words! I recognize your name from talking to Samuel. Good to hear from you! I'm glad to hear that I was able to bring a little bit of the mountain to you. I'm always trying to share the feeling of being there with the people who weren't able to be there. And when it's as beautiful as it was this time, it makes my job a lot easier! Thanks again for watching and take care.

Well done video! Checked it out since I had planned a trip up in a few days but then discovered on the park website that the Ridge Trail and all back country campsites are closed due to storm damage. Oh well, guess I'll visit the Hensley settlement some other time. Thanks for a great preview though!

I'm glad you enjoyed the preview! Sorry to hear about your plans. I somehow missed that the trail was closed at the moment. That ice storm must have happened the weekend I originally had planned my own trip. I hope you can reschedule your trip, because it's a fantastic trail.

I really enjoyed the video. Sam and Nick are such good guys. I’ve hiked that trail before but never in that much snow. You really captured the beauty of the snow storm. That had to be some tough hiking out of there with all that fresh snow. Really cool 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks Jason! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out. If I'm not mistaken, I remember you from a Tim Watson video where you guys went up to Lion's Head at Dolly Sods, haha. That video helped me find Lion's Head when I went there. This was easily the most snow I've ever hiked in. And it was tough. Fortunately, I had a couple great companions to help get me through it!
