in a comment you mentioned an extremely important point that literally could change the overall backpacking experience by raising the "pleasure/enjoyment meter" several levels on any trip . . . in planning a trip and if you have the time, why not "take the time to smell the roses" . . . why do a 36 mile hike in 4 days @ 9 mile per day when the same trip could be done over 6 days @ 6 miles per day . . . RESULT: more time for quality photography (the point you made), more time to stop and take in the majesty of the surroundings, more time for camp set-up and campfire camaraderie, more rest, more time for morning coffee and not having to constantly push ahead where the focus of the day becomes reaching the campsite destination in time:)

I normally watch your videos on my apple TV ... so never get to (or more honestly take the time) to comment. That changes today. I loved this video so much. I have watched all your videos - all. I have watched all of Bryan DeLay’s videos, all of Joey ‘s and most of Coach’s. So this was really fun to watch. Couple that with the beautiful scenery and WOW. Someday I hope to do what you’re doing and am trying to align things in my life in such a way to make that possible. I’m 57.. so time’s a ticking. The other thing I forgot about was that you had a Patreon account! I’m signing up now. I hear u talking quite often about Mosquitoes. Me and my family take Cinnamon pills before going on trips. The bugs and Mosquitoes will stay away. I'm sure u can just eat regular cinnamon but if u don't like the flavor then pills are the way to go. Just take them a few days before u leave then you'll be just fine. No bug spray needed.

My favorite place. Simply stunning. I was getting teary eyed watching this. I’ve been there five times and definitely need to go back (last time was about 10 years ago☹️. My strategy is to go after Labor Day. You don’t get the flowers, but most of the people are gone and, more importantly, I’ve never seen a mosquito. Went one time in late November. The only person i saw all week was a dayhiker in the parking lot when I got back to the car. Ok, maybe I don’t need quite that much solitude, but it was interesting.

I would HIGHLY recommend hiking up through Titcomb Basin (with a side trip to Indian Basin - feels a little like being on the moon, but with lakes everywhere) then over Knapsack Col (sorry, no trail), down to Peak Lake then pick up the Highline Trail back toward Island Lake. Fabulous loop!

Hi Catherine, I hope to hike to Titcomb Basin in either 2023 or 2024. Based on your experience with this trail, what time of year would you recommend? I'd like to go when there are plenty of wildflowers in bloom. I understand there is a section of trail which is underwater for a short distance. I'd prefer not to have to wade very deep water. When do the mosquitoes get really bad? I've watched many of your videos and this one has inspired me to make the trek to Titcomb. Not long ago I did a loop hike just north of Mammoth Lakes to Thousand Island Lake, Garnet Lake, and Ediza Lake. It was epic.

Great video! I've enjoyed yours, Brian's, and Coach's videos through the years. I actually camped about 50 feet to the left of your spot at Island Lake. I was there on 8/10 thru 8/12 so I just missed you all. I agree about Titcomb nearly bringing one to tears. It was truly stunning. Also, it got below freezing in 8/10 and 8/11 and I think that knocked down the mosquitoes. It was sooooo much nicer sitting and staring at Island Lake without the vampires constantly attacking. If you haven't been to Cirque of the Towers please go. It's as awe inspiring and Titcomb is beautiful. Happy to see you living and amazing life. Enjoy.

Sorry I missed catching this epic hike when it happened last year. The final snapshot montage set to music was a precursor of the cinematic experience you are giving your growing fan base this year. Coach is a hoot too - saw him cut up and bleeding with Joey in his Big Bend NP video (I only hiked that one up on the cool plateau when I visited one spring a while back). I can see now why you had to return to the Winds this summer.
