Three things i love about this video: First is the subtle shock and horror on the researchers' faces as they study the video and reach the part with the entity. Not over the top terror but a steady realization that there's something down there that isn't human. You can see the existential dread creeping over their faces. Second is the steadily increasing tension in the music which matches how ASYNC's people are realizing what's wrong with the Backrooms. Third is the other researcher going through the hallways. He has to navigate multiple hallways and elevators to get back up to daylight, which helps emphasize that the Threshold and the Backrooms are far away from the surface and well removed from the normal world. Even if you get out of the Backrooms, you're still deep below ground and a long way from the sun.

Seeing the creature itself/seeing it portrayed like this has honestly been my least favorite part about the series as a whole. The insertion of monsters (visually/detailed descriptions) into the backrooms when it became popular threw me off of it since it took away from the horror of the place itself, instead relying on the monsters for anything terrifying to occur. At least that's how it's been for a lot of backrooms material. The mere suspense for what may lie in the unknown has been more than enough to grip my interest for most of the series/BR material in general. The series' saving grace (regarding monsters) is that it can rely on audio and video to make encounters terrifying, but their sole concept comes as generic to me, especially when you have an amazing and unexplored setpiece like this. The series has been amazing to watch, though the monsters are my only criticism for it truthfully

That shot at 0:51 actually got us all by surprise. Almost EVERY Backrooms video has been in VHS format from what I've seen and to have Kane switch up the game a little and enter that 'cinematic' faze with a full on soundtrack and 4k shots giving us a clearer view of The Backrooms is absolutely beautiful. It's almost as if everything is almost being wrapped up into it's endgame (hopefully for season 1 so we get a season 2).

I just noticed that the workers constructing the barricades aren't wearing hazmat suits or respirators...it may be hinting that Async has a better grasp of the Backrooms than they're letting on. In every previous episode, research teams are sent in with heavy protective gear, and we can see why in Autopsy Report. However, in this episode, an unprotected worker appears to be in an open area of the Backrooms, with no apparent concern for the deadly bacteria that may be present (I know we've only seen it affect a dead body, but it's pretty likely that John Doe was infected while he was alive, given the advanced stage of bacterial takeover). The fact that this are isn't one of their sealed outlooks makes me think that maybe they've developed an antibiotic to resist the bacteria, and may be using this unwitting construction worker to test it (since most everyone else knows about the danger). Either that, or I'm overthinking, and Async is just willing to sacrifice people to preserve the secrecy of their project.

@mrreyes5004
Жыл бұрын
I mean, it could also be possible that *there never actually were any deadly bacteria floating in the air* of the Backrooms. In fact, in the "Found Footage" video, the cameraman is entirely unaffected by breathing in the air of the Backrooms despite wandering around in there for more than 9+ minutes. Pretty sure Async just had their first explorers use hazmat suits as a "just in case" safety measure instead of the Backrooms actually having toxic air. The _ONLY_ bacteria that we know of in the Kane Pixels version of Backrooms is from the Bacteria monster, AKA the tripod-looking monster from "Found Footage"). The thing is, the Bacteria monster kills people by mauling them rather than shoving bits of itself into people or whatever (literally the last thing we saw the Bacteria monster do was pounce on the cameraman like a wolf or lion). *_Also, the John Doe from the "Autopsy Report" video DIDN'T even die from the infection._* In fact, the physician who performed the autopsy even outright confirmed that the John Doe died from malnutrition. The guy didn't die of an unknown infection eating him from the inside, but he actually died because there literally isn't any food in the Backrooms and therefore starved to death.

I notice the small details that set the animation apart from mocap movements, its that everyone appears to have the same walk style. By such, the person doing the mocap has a distinct walk, which amuses me. Done a really good job at hiding it and making it look incredibly real, one of the few things that keeps my interest, and I know sort of what's going on too! :)

I’m watching this while I’m working and OH MY GOD this series is so good- One of my spinterests is the backrooms and this is itching that itch SO WELL. So much about this series is on such a professional level, many of the shots and sound design I find are very reminiscent of the HBO Chernobyl series, the amount of professionalism poured into this just aids to the immersion and absolute dread I feel with each watch, keep up the amazing work!

Every element about this clip - and this extends to the series taken as a whole as well - is done unbelievably well. However, my background is in sound design and have experience scoring films so the audio is where I’m best positioned to really understand and appreciate just how insanely good all of the sound work - scoring/voiceovers/foley has been throughout the whole series. But Oh my fing-god - even amidst all the other great sounding episodes before - that first sound score here? The one that runs from the start till 1:30 or so? - that piece is just WTF-level great. I was immediately taken by how much the first score piece sounded like a track taken straight off from Swans “Soundtracks for the Blind” which is a top 5 most personally formative albums in my life as well as a masterwork that I also regard as THE most creatively intimidating album I’ve ever heard. So my suggesting any similarity in this way is meant as praise of the highest order. Floored.

Kane Pixels is a legend. His backroom series is so good, and so much ahead than any of the backrooms series. Kane Pixels literally hired real actors to do this, but he's still 16. Like, what! This is a miracle!

The biohazardous carpeting, random pitfalls, mutated bread mold and sinister camera tripods roaming the place were believed to be minor setbacks. The part where the turn signs weren’t oriented properly was what finally convinced the head scientists that the Backrooms wouldn’t be suitable real estate even by California standards.

As a former Californian, I will say that what we have seen of the Backrooms is only a slight downgrade from California. Thank god I moved to North Carolina. If you live in California (LA especially), leave. You will not regret it.

@@stan2531 I recall a Backrooms wiki entry which described an infinite parking garage inhabited by a society where the rich people lived on the upper levels and had the poor people mine rebar and car parts out of the contents of the lower levels, until the lower levels were undermined and the parking garage collapsed in on itself. That might be a metaphor for California and American society in general.

@@stan2531 As many have, but in all honesty? Where the Californians go? They want to implement the same exact policitical and economical policies in the places they go that are doing well, that have made California such a pit. They didn't learn.

One of the scariest parts about the recording at the beginning is that, at first, you can't hear the Entity, only Marv. You can slowly begin to start hearing the mimicked screeches through the recording. This proves that the entity is, in fact, slowly gaining on Marv, which means that they are slightly faster than Hazmats.
