So Episode 12 of season 3 is finally here and we need to break it down, so let’s get straight into it. We begin the episode with Omega’s return to tantiss and we see her get her sample taken from Emerie.
Back on Pabu we see a star destroyer slowly leaving and Hunter meets up with Crosshair and Wrecker. And as they ponder how they are going to reach Omega, Crosshair tells them that they might be able to through an old enemy, Admiral Rampart. Now Rampart was of course the main villain of season 1 and half-way through season 2, having been the one to destroy Tipoca City but was later taken down politically by Senator Chuchi. And it would make sense that he might have some inclination as to where Tantiss is as he was the one who began operations there. Phee shows up as well, and as Phee is introduced to Crosshair we see Tech’s goggles and Lola in the background. We learn that Rampart is locked up on an imperial labour camp on Erebus which would make it a new planet to star wars. We cut to Erebus where we see a turbo tank or HAVw A6 juggernaut driving along and these vehicles were first introduced in the revenge of the sith on the battle of Kasshykk. We see Rampart working his shift next to an ugnaught. The ugnaut were of course a species well known for their engineering and mechanical skill, something which the Empire exploited by enslaving many into servitude, something which was further discussed in the mandalorian. (scene).
The team discuss with Phee as how they can infilitrate Erebus and as they enter the planet we see Phee perform this meanouver to get pass the sensors where she essentially kills all power including engines and life support systems, kinda like how Han Solo was able to escape the Empire in the Empire strikes back. Its a bit of a risky maneuover and Phee has to quickly turn on her engines to get things going again as they made it past the sensors. As the team infiltrate the planet they realise that they will have to intercept Rampart’s transport to get him out. We see Rampart and the other prisoner’s board the turbo tank on their way back to prison and this entire sequence is very reminiscent of Jyn Erso’s position in Rogue One as she too was transported via a turbo tank while imprisoned on Wobani. (scene). The team infiltrates the tank and Wrecker and Crosshair use plan 55 to easily take out the stormtroopers. Which kinda reminded me of this one scene in season 7 of the clone wars (scene). The imperial troopers figure out that their turbo tanks have been compromised and we get a series of really cool action sequences with the turbo tank which is amazing. I do particularly like this one scene where we see the tank has a turret that can intercept missiles (scene). Hunter orders Wrecker to shoot the opposing tank’s wheels and axel and it immediately knocks it out. And it does make sense that the clones would know better how to take out a turbo tank compared to the stormtroopers as the clones did actually fight in a war using that vehicle. Rampart tries to go for a blaster during the commotion but Crosshair easily knocks him out. Hunter radios Phee for an evac and after a brief struggle, Phee does manage to come to their rescue. And this scene of the turbo tank navigating the tight environment with troopers getting squished is somewhat reminiscent of the tank scene in Indiana Jones and the last crusade.
As the team makes it out with Rampart, we learn that no one actually knows the coordinates to Tantiss. But he does hint that he might know a way around that. And the reason why no one really knows the coordinates of Tantiss is that the encryption for those coordinates might change on a rotational basis. Essentially when one person tries to use and access those coordinates to get to Tantiss it might require a different password then when someone else uses it. Either that or the coordinates of Tantiss can only be used through a physical device a sort of plug and play system. Either way, its going to be interesting to see how they get around this.
We cut back to Tantiss and we reconfirm that Omega is indeed a good match for the m-count cloning program. Specifically her blood is favorable for an M-count replication. Meaning that Omega may not be force sensitive but her blood is compatible to replicate the midichlorians of other force sensitive beings which makes her very valuable. Hemlock explains that previous attempts of replicating the M-count failed as it is almost impossible to...
