We used to have BadCats off stage at church before we got the crazy idea that we should eliminate noise as much as possible. I miss them!

I used to use s 65 London before that. Then Strymon iridium for the alleged noise. The singers complained one day looking over at me and I was not playing. It was the loud keyboards

Guitars are made to be guitars. When you take away the other half of a guitars equation, we can’t call ourselves guitarists. They become men with their balls cut off. Don’t stand for it and tell the soundmen to do their job😊 plexiglass or a guitar hard case in front of an amp to block the blast, that’s all the needs to happen. Soundmen need to work on their craft as we have crafting our tones, feel and dynamics. They should have to learn and get a feel for what can’t be taught, experience and having prides in one’s craft. That’s where they lack. They don’t have any idea about tone, sound or mixing, hence where it has come.

@@StratTones It just depends. At church a guitarist is there to serve the house, not just themselves. Most of them do. I run Front of House as WELL as play guitar so I understand both sides. The problem is most AMP guitarists want to crank their amps, and that kills stage volume and is a distraction most of the time to a service. It's a work in progress

I can’t tell how much headroom this amp has. A lot of demos show it in a more classic-hard rock kinda way. I liked how clean/pushed it sounded in this demo
@ShawnTubbs
Жыл бұрын
Yes, "headroom" is difficult to convey in a demo. In my experience, any single channel tube amp, 30 watts or more is going to have a good amount of clean headroom but, I did try to convey in the initial playthrough example, what the clean mode is capable of. You've got good ears and perspective! Thanks for chiming in!

I love the sound of Bad Cat amps. If I were playing larger venues, I would be running a Bad Cat with a Revv or Dr Z. The Bad Cat just has that unique character which would mix well with other amps or work perfectly well on its own. As always, thanks a ton, Shawn!

Sounding amazing through this amp Shawn! I like this tone better than your other amps. My personal favorite amp of all time is the Bad Cat Black Cat 30. It's got the EL84 power tubes I prefer the 12AX7 channel over the EF86 channel for the extra clarity and top boost style circuit. It's basically the exact same circuit as the Matchless C-30, as this was the first amp Mark Sampson released under the Bad Cat name, after selling Matchless. It's like a better built Matchless C-30. For my style of guitar playing, it's THE amp. I run a stereo rig in my recording studio where I combine the Bad Cat Black Cat 30 with a with a Vox AC30TB and it's wow-time! I think the midrange voicing of the Cub is better suited to your Landau infused style Shawn. The Cub has more bark, kind of like Landau himself. You seem a lot nicer than Mike so having the extra bark from the amp may be needed to get there. You were playing "I'm Gonna Be (5000 Miles)" by The Proclaimers.

Did you see how low he was running the bass? I think that amp is probably pretty warm sounding for Shawn to have the bass that low with a V30. BadCat also has V30's in their combos and separate cabs. Seems like the amp was developed around that particular speaker. Shawn is also great at mic'ing a guitar cab and his 57/121 blend gives us a great blend of what is coming out of the speaker. I appreciated the live amp versus the IRs. Before Shawn said anything I thought it might be a live cab. Great job, Shawn!

BadCat ruined their branding IMO changing the amps so substantially over the years with the same name/model of the amp. You now need a degree in BadCat to know what you have and even their website does a poor job of detailing older legacy models. They’re great sounding but horribly marketed/branded because of this. Gibson made the same mistakes over the years and has recently fixed/simplified a lot.
