Thanks Paul, you’ve been a great help to me for a long time . Question; what type of lift are you using for the car ? Is it safe ? I’m sort of weary of getting under my car while lifted . Thanks

the sticky key issue is an easy 20 min DIY fix and the starter failing is extremely rare. Too bad you did not buy one as they are great sports cars

Are used the alligator clip like the video shows and rain one into the battery the other Uber to the starter wire shown in his video my starter did not kick in. Therefore, I thought my starter was bad. Replaced it and my car still does not start replaced the relay control module, my car still does not start. Does anybody have any other solutions? He said that the starter should all engage by running that alligator clip but mine did not that’s why I put a new starter on my car and it will not work by using the alligator clip that you can jump the starter over with a screwdriver and it kick right in.

2001 Mercedes slk320 at 2004 crossfire is identical except body. 2001 benz slk starter is dead, every step that your use is perfect! Last one, that is professional way to use pulse to check and if the starter is good on not good. Thankyou very much from North east Georgia

Hello Paul ; haven’t seen any new videos in a while. Hopefully you and yours are doing fine. I have a question for you , not to long. My crossfire runs great, thanks to you, and passes smog easily. I’ve notice quite a while back, but thought that now is a good time to figure it out. When I start my car, I hear a puffing sound coming from engine, exhaust, I can’t figure it out. Is there any thing that you can suggest? I checked all hoses , vacuums that I can see. Puffing sound is only heard while engine is started at idle.. Can’t hear sound when I’m driving. Like I said , car is in extremely great running condition. Please suggest anything you might think I could check out. Thanks Paul

Hi Mike. Have you checked to see if the secondary air pump turns on when you 1st start the car? It should Only run for a short time then turn off
@mikeyincalif

That’s a pretty expensive part to replace. How would I know if that’s the problem. Very faint puffing sound, only when cars is first started cold. I’ve not had any error check engine lights that have come on. Had to smog it this past June. California has us smog every other year. Car runs great. I think I’ll check the hoses on secondary pump. There was a you tuber who demonstrated changing out the pump. All of his comments were about error codes lights coming on. Maybe I’m just being a little too analytical. Always been my problem. lol. Anyway, I’ll check more for any leaks. I’ll let you know what I find . Thanks Paul. I live in Palm Springs California . When I take either of my convertibles out for a drive , I get so many positive comments about my 2005 crossfire that I purchased when it was 2 years old , with 17,000 miles , now with 120,000. All from traveling from Ventura county to Palm Springs back and forth every week before I retired . My 2002 T-bird that I purchased new in may of 2003 only has 31,000. On it. But people only smile at it, but stop and talk to me about the Crossfire. You got to Love it , or Hate it. I love both my convertibles. I’ll let you go and will let you know what cure that I find. Later Paul. Take Care ! I just thought about what you said about the secondary pump turning on for short time , then turning off. Like I said before, I only hear that faint puffing sound for a very short time on first cold start up. Maybe there is no problem ; just the pump doing what you said. 🤔🤔🤔I’ll keep checking. Thanks

Hi Paul....Martien here from the Netherlands. My Crossfire showed the next error twice in a row. When the engine is realy warm and I stop and turn of it will not give the key.... and it says ESP/ BAS light is on. The wing went up and down one time. It is an automatic 2007. After 3 hours I start the car...turn it of and it wil give the key. Stickey key issue is impossible because I fixed that 3 weeks ago. I took it out to prevent stickey key issue. I am a member of the Crossfire club in the Netherlands and some hints are RCM or neutral safety switch problems. What do you think????

Could you confirm that the solenoid also pulls the engagement gear, or is it by centrifugal force of rotation. In the video you assume it is the centrifugal action. I would like to know for sure. This video is a keeper, thanks.

Thanks, Paul for the videos, but I do have a question if someone could answer I took the alligator clip like you showed in the video and ran it from my pulse modulator over to the positive on my battery and my starter did not kick in, but I can go underneath the car and put power to the starter, and the starter will kick in I replaced my starter and still had the same issue. That’s when I tried it from the starter power and the starter kicks in, but it will not kick in from the pass modulator that wire over to the positive of the battery. The starter will not kick in. Is there something that I’m missing?

check all fuses 1st. The pulse module could be defective, try swapping it out with someone else who has a Crossfire. If you don't know anyone then join the facebook.com/share/g/gZ1x4kmMZM8ca73C/ and see who lives around you. There is a Crossfire Owners worldwide map

I find it odd that both the solenoid and motor were defective. Normally it either one not both.
