Stay with BBSHD !!! The Main Factors for me is the CAN bus communication is locking up modification possibilities forcing the customer to buy from Bafang. Main draw back is the Bulky Battery which is Bigger than the Regular size. But the biggest TURN OFF is you can not use the Battery from your Existing Bafang kit, buy a REGULAR BATTERY or even make your own Battery without having a CANBUS PROCESSOR and the required communication protocol, which i can gaurantee they will not release. Another point is the Bigger Battery may not be able to mounted be within the bikes Triangle !!. So you are now forced to buy their Ugly/Bulky Batteries which may not fit within the Triangle and pay more !!!. For this reason i'm sticking the BBSHD !!!.

For now yes, however the can bus protocol should let you program anything you want on any of the devices. You can program the battery or the motor or screen. It's just not enabled yet. But in theory. Additionally, as more manufacturers start switching to can bus compatible batteries, the boards for them will only cost a couple dollars more, around $5 more. Eventually they will become ubiquitous and they will become interoperable as well. It's just a new industry standard if that makes sense. It's like how wireless charging was a special thing on phones for a while and few phones had it and few chargers supported it but now it's just so ubiquitous you don't think about it

The M625's untweakable proprietary nonsense is a dealbreaker for me. The whole reason I liked the BBSHD was because I could put it on anything with whatever battery I wanted. The M625's battery doesn't fit in small frames (I'm very vertically challenged), and not having the full 9 PAS settings is dumb. I like the fine control and the ability to reprogram the BBSHD for smoother power delivery.

They don't have tools to tweak it but in fact you actually can. Anyone with rs232 and can bus knowledge can sniff the packets and easily see that it's using the same exact protocol as the syntax for vehicle ECU programming of values and reading off of values. I was able to change the power on mine except I burnt It out by turning it up to 2 KW and it lasted literally 3 seconds up a hill before it immediately fried... Long story short I think that as can bus becomes more ubiquitous, and others start to switch to it, we'll see interchangeability and reprogrammability as well. You cannot doubt the advantages, even our cars have been using it since 1996. You'll be able to plug in one plug and program the screen, the motor, the battery, and everything will connect through one single harness and everything can share a cable.

Just turn of your bike and give it to the police to test it ad they stop you. Then it us legal again. Turning it on each time is then not a problem. They had to use a torque sensor. I have also a tsdz2 and that ond is just great. It rides easier. You can change speed by just puting less force on the pedals Still I switched to hub motors. Yep one of the problems with the shift cutoff sensor. Plus you don’t need it when you have torque sensing as a way more smoother gradual power delivery. It give you only the power you need based on how hard you are on the pedals to give it a way more natural feel and you don’t tear up your rear freewheel/cassette and derailleur nearly as fast. They put the optional shift cutoff sensor on the bbshd as it dump all the power and was jerky and if you shifted you definitely tore up the drive train. But you could work around issue by hitting the brakes light to enough cut out motor instead which is essentially what the shift cutoff does.

There seems to be a lot of bad information here. There is nothing wrong with a price war for the purchasers. This doesn’t hurt the quality of the BBS02. It simply lowers the price. A monopoly or oligarchy like you seem to be promoting is never good for the people using the product. Also, it’s untrue that there are a lot of modifications for the BBS02. There are are almost no modifications for the Bafang BBS02 motor. And you don’t have to find a special shop to modify the BBS02’s programming. You just buy a cheap USB cable and download the software. Anyone can do this easily.

Google bafang gear sensor about 20-30 bucks. You have to remove the gear cable running to the derailleur (if you have a loose or spare nipple & some extra cable at the end you can reuse but it's easier to order a new cable) & thread the cable through the sensor, hook the gear cable back up replace nipple (you'll need to mess about with the tension to get good shifting again, youtube tutorials can help there if you don't know how) then plug the sensor into the motor.

This is straight shilling for Bafang bro. I don’t see how the features offered here is an improvement to the end user over what is currently offered. There’s a canbus now ok, but do we really need that technology on an e-bike? Vendor specific batteries are a bonus now? I have a Bosch battery with a broken BMS that I can’t use because of vendor lock-in and lack of parts. This is going backwards.

I did my best to address the negatives of this system in clear terms, while offering speculative insight as to the motivations. Maybe I'm not as upset as other people are, but I can't go around publicly blasting companies and products, as I could be sued for lible or slander. KZitem isn't a social club anymore, it's a factory for authenticity in advertising. Google isn't going to take one lick of responsibility, so the risk lies in the lowly creators. I when with the bafang ultra m620 and one of the smoothest motor used to date. Issues is definitely it being locked down and when they switched to CanBus. Thankfully was able to still custom built the battery pack using Samsung 21700 cells to get a 20AH pack. I hate on this new m625 that they lock that down as well and can only used there packs. So didn’t buy it and when with the m620 Ultra instead. It not a DIY motor. So when with a custom frame had built from aostirmotor as wanted a s17 frame but without a hub motor and when with the Bafang Ultra m620 instead of which is the 1500w version. You don’t need the torque shifting sensor as the torque sensor actually give you smoother power delivery and more like a normal bike instead of dumping all the power at once. So you don’t tear up your cassette/freewheel and derailer when shifting.
