I thought it was a cool touch that the texture of Florence Pugh’s hair (or the way it was styled) kind of mimicked the texture of the tulle of the dress! I haven’t really seen that before and but it looked cool and brought the whole look together

Haha Cate and Kate both wore pieces for a second time! Aside from the sustainable and cost effect aspect of the choices, I think it’s a fun challenge for designers and stylists to take pieces from the past and revamp them/send them down the carpet again. It’s always fun to see vintage and redesigned pieces imo. Also like the fact they both fit in the same dresses from years ago 😅 cannot relate lol

Clarification at 5:29. You identify the sleeve pouf as silk. By appearance, it is obviously satin but perhaps not silk. Satin is a weave. Silk is a fiber. Satin fabric can be woven of any fiber, natural or synthetic, typically a fiber that has a lustrous sheen such as silk or rayon. Let me attempt to explain the satin weave.... Visualize a loom. An array of parallel threads are stretched taut on a frame. These are the warp threads. Add a single row of thread on the perpendicular to the warp threads crossing over one warp thread and under the next warp thread until the row is complete. This is a weft thread. For a basic weave pattern, the weft threads cross over and under the warp threads one at a time. For a satin weave, the weft thread skips over several warp threads before weaving under a single warp thread. This is what creates the high gloss of a satin fabric, the majority of a weft thread lays flat on the surface of the warp threads to better reflect the light. Satin is a more delicate fabric because the weft threads are more vulnerable to abrasion. Beware rayon satin. It is less expensive than silk, but lacks the drape and lustre and is far less durable.

See the song: ‘She Wore a Yellow Ribbon:’ Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon: She wore it in the springtime In the merry month of May. And if you ask her why the heck she wore it, She wore it for her soldier who was far far away. What made the Kate dress even more, as weird as it sounds, 'important' in the state of the world currently, isn't that she just wore a dress a second time. She had the same dress but had it ever so slightly reworked. Just enough to give it a difference, but not spending a huge amount in the name of just 'different'. We're heading back into the days of make do and mend for so many (a phrase almost as famous as the "Keep Calm and Carry On" and from the similar time frame) and she is bright enough to, like women in power/part of power, use her closet to speak far louder than her voice might hope to. Fast fashion is a crap idea that needs to die. Not just for the planet, but for us all as a whole. So, take a women in the constant center of public view and start hoping the narrative becomes easier for many to swallow. She gets points for 'being sensible', she gets green points, gets fashion points, scores across the board. And while that is on one hand, incredibly cynical, it also ~works~ so hell, whatever it takes.

Jody rocked something fascinating - I really could have looked at close ups of the details for a long time. I really respect it, it also looks like she can move pretty well in it. I really wish I could see more clips of the movement in these fashion pieces. Nicola Caughlin looks great and the fit and compliment was perfect for her, which I love to see a great fit on a non model size. 10/10. It feels like the Princess of Wales is coming more into her own, fashion wise. A few years ago she had fully embraced the royal thing, pretty, but very conservative. Now she seems to feel confident enough to give it her own twist (while naturally still being bound by her role as a future Queen). I don’t like all of her choices, but I respect them, especially her decision to borrow and revamp outfits. My only issue with this look was that she didn’t lean hard enough into the monochrom, I think if the ribbon situation on the shoulder had been black also, the outfit would’ve pulled together better. Oh, and I never particularly felt she did „Diana cosplay“ - though the press always loves to point out all the „nods“, be they ever so slight. Diana was a very public figure, she was photographed in just about any colour of the rainbow, yet every time one of her daughters-in-law wears navy blue or polkadots the pictures get dragged out again because obviously it’s a „Hommage“. 🙄

They bring in an estimated 1.8 billion per normal year in the form of tourism revenue which of course will increased this year so there is that. On the whole if we have to have a monarchy they are fairly cost effective, a lot cheaper than other heads of state like the US president or France’s president so really if you look at them receiving the civil list it costs £1.61 per person per year in the Uk but that is balanced out by the benefits they bring to the British economy. I loved the styling of Cate Blanchett’s necklaces too. I’ve never seen it done in that way. Very nice!
