The highs and lows and mids and shallows ; like a river that springs from the purest - flows and washes away all the malice : simply mellifluous, it's augmented by the streams of shagirds who join the river to make those waves even more spectacular, all in all - this is what sincerity can do to music. Aa Ha, Kyaa baat hai. This is so PRECIOUS in so many ways. First of all thanks to "The Dream Journey" for doing such a great job with the video and sharing it with us. It is precious because it is informal, intimate and full of Upaj. It is precious because we can see Fareed Bhai and Abu Bhai enjoying themselves as they deliver. It is precious because the audience is full of real "dardi" (दर्दी )folk. And lastly we see a hundred percent "tayyari"(तय्यारी) by the younger ones (I don't know their names, but they are the future of this music). I had only heard of this bandish from my farther's generation but seldom see it sung among the contemporaries of Hindustani Classical. Seeing the tears come to Fareed Bhai's eyes gave us a glimpse into all the generations that he represents. I can only say thank you for all this come together here on a perfect sum (सम).

dekho bhai , umeed karta hoon tumhe classical music ki achhi knowledge hogi . lekin ek baat bata doon .. aise compare karna galat hai ..for example nusrat sahab ek dusre type ki qawalli gate hain ..aur Ayaz sahab ke gane ka style alag hai..aur dono best hain apne aap me...aise compare nahi kar sakte ....bade gulam ali khan classical thumri gate hain ...aur ayaz sahab se ise qawalli style me gaya hai ..aise me tum kaise kah sakte ho ki bade gulam ali khan sahab ne best gaya hai . thumri me bhi 2 type hai classical aur purabi style...bhai sab ke apne tarike hote hain .. aise me tumko sab enjoy karna chahiye ...aise kisi ko kharab ya badhiya nahi kah sakte ho .

Praveen Gahlot - Look you raised the query & I answered it with what I saw fit. Ustad BGAK immortalized this thumri & till date owns the finest interpretation in Rag Bhairavi. BTW, where did I say that Farid Ayaz's interpretation was bad? In fact, I quite enjoyed it. However, Ustad BGAK is somebody who the leading Ustads incl. names such as NFAK, Ustad Salamat Ali use to listen and internalize. You don't have to take my word for it, just listen to there interviews which are available on youtube.
