This was indeed helpful. ❤😊 I absolutely relate to simultaneously struggling with consistency but also finding that I need to come back to some kind of morning practice when it wavers. Paper planning is not something I've ever thought I'd have to 'make time for,' as I'm completely lost without it -- for me it's vital to getting to work on time and getting anything done (I don't get decorative with it, only functional). I like the idea of having scaled back versions of things and it makes complete sense as I totally get a joy out of crossing things off a list.

I found this helpful and will probably rewatch it a few times. As someone who works an evening shift and has struggled with sleep issues most of my life, I have found morning routines helpful to have but challenging to stick with. I currently have no morning routine, am not progressing in getting things done, and feel exhausted and depleted most of the day. Thank you for the ideas, helpful hints and general motivation.

Yes I can relate to that. Good luck! ❤️

I enjoyed this video. It just so happens that I'm currently trying to help my wife to conceptualize of some sort of routine or schedule that she could consistently stick to. I think you shared some very keen insights around thinking of ways to negotiate or compromise with a daily routine, especially for creative people. Well done. As for the content/subject matter, I wanted to share that what keeps me clicking on your videos is looking forward to your particular perspective on whatever it is that you're doing the video on. You come off in your videos as very level headed, realistic, practical, and scientific. That's unique in the vein of 'witchy' videos (which is the content that drew me to your channel) and has kept me consistently clicking on the videos of yours that pop up in the KZitem algorithm. You do really well at presenting information both from a philosophical or psychological depth while also providing a scientific or practical approach to the subject - to put it another way: your content isn't so deep that I "drown" or can't follow what you're saying but it also isn't so dry that I get bored. I personally haven't found any other content creators that consistently give me that vibe and I would consider that one of your unique strengths as a creator. The titles you choose for your videos also consistently draw me in, so I feel like I would be liable to click on anything you put out, no matter the subject. Is it weird to type all that out to a creator on KZitem? Haha - I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this! I've actually never had such lengthy feedback like this specific to my video style and it's really lovely and interesting to hear. Very glad to hear this was helpful, I hope your wife figures something out that works soon! ☺️

I've struggled with the self-bashing of my own perceived failures for not doing simple tasks to a point where they'd become completely un-doable just due to the sheer amount of stress I felt about the task. Which is ridiculous! Listening to yourself and letting go of the idea that your routine needs to look a certain way to be valid, I believe is the most important thing you can do for yourself. We all work differently and it doesn't matter when or how you do things, as long as it works for you! ♥ I too need a balance between giving myself a break and giving myself a kick up the butt. I can fall into lethargy and lose control over daily chores if I don't maintain some kind of routine/schedule but at the same time I can't have the same routine every day! So it's a bit finnicky to manage. Loved this video, hearing that others find similar difficulties in their lives is rather reassuring. Thank you Áine ♥

I too find I need a certain balance between rigidity and flexibility in planning my days/weeks. I have found that, for example, trying to plan my tasks for the day by the hour just doesn't work. I get too much anxiety if I wasn't able to finish a task within the time I allotted it. I also fell in love with the idea of a morning routine but it never quite panned out. I have never been a morning person, so I am just not at my best in those early hours. I have found that planning around my "peak times" for the day (when I naturally feel my most alert and focused) is far more successful than trying to force myself to be a morning person.

Yes, I think the morning routine has hung on for me because I do tend to be most alert in the mornings, but I try to leave space for creative work in the early evening too because I get another boost then. I absolutely relate with the anxiety around hour-by-hour scheduling. Such an individual thing!

I have a long term pain condition so I have really though through my own morning routine. When I was still well enough to work I would just take a ballistic approach to the day - basically I would wake up to an alarm, have a cup of tea (I know it's very ordinary, but this is a sacred space for me) and then I would point myself at the day and launch my metaphorical rocket engines. Burn out was a frequent issue since I took no notice of my own needs. Once my pain condition stopped me being able to walk I had to stop working (although I hope to run my own business again once I've got this flare up and deterioration under control.) So now I manage by having two ways to do each day: If I am well enough not to be bed bound I get up at 8 and get dressed and washed by 10 (this varies because I need to wait for carers to help on some days.) Then I check my diary and look at my lists. I do some household chores, I work on my bigger projects (preparing for a time when I hope to go back to work.) I keep tasks small and put rest stops in between to stop the pain getting the upper hand. If I am not well enough to get up out of bed I run some medical checks to make sure everything is safe and I don't need a doctor or a visit to hospital. Then I work out my minimum day - what has to get done. I also give myself an in-bed task to do if I am well enough but this is always optional. Having these two modes really helps to give me a kind of pressure valve so that I don't push too hard or get lazy. It also means that I still have enough structure to get that calm feeling that everything is being properly managed.

I am starting a new job soon going from nightshift to working days. Routines have ben difficult to establish with my shift schedule so I am looking forward to all my days being days and starting a consistent morning and bedtime routine.

I deal with chronic illness and varying symptoms day to day, sometimes hour to hour. I sometimes struggle to find the balance between trying to be productive and listening to my body and rest. It's a very delicate balance. I'm also NOT a morning person at all. I've tried various morning routines for productivity and they all made my chronic illness issues worse. I've found that sometimes I can be productive in the mornings, but often I'm way more productive at night. So I try to apply morning routine stuff to evenings/nighttime. 😊 I think it's so important for people to learn when they do best as an individual.

Yes!! Absolutely. Important for everyone, but especially when you have particular needs to be catered for. I think the point of a "morning" routine should simply be to enhance a feeling that you have some level of control and clarity on your life, and are making some progress with something that matters. This will make sense to do at different times for different people ☺️
