I have a WORLD OF RESPECT for Dr. Barnard. He is always so diplomatic, modest and respectful, and does not get engaged in the "my diet is better than your diet" nonsense. His evidenced-based and "whole picture" approach is like a magnet, not a hammer. He is one of the great doctors of modern times.

As a woman in menopause 53 years old I can complete agree with the great Dr, I have been wfpb for 4 years, I was having so many symptoms of menopause , I too read that the Japanese especially didn't have a word for hot flashes, so I made sure that I included soy in my diet, tofu, enamame beans and soya milk. Just like that all my menopause symptoms disappeared 👏 not just the hot flashes. Thank you for this interview, was amazing, the hour flew by. Off to tell everyone 😂

MRI so far are clear of reoccurrence but the neurological symptoms through out my body are intense and no answer from neurologistssss. I’m eating turmeric spice and black pepper with nuts, seeds and avocado. I haven’t used deodorant in 30yrs. I do have metal pots and aluminum pans. Thanks mentioning that. Any contact info for this doctor or any other doctor of nutrition and natural foods that can help me heal because traditional medicine it's taking the slash and burn method. But since this is my brain I have to be careful, no too many trys. I Just wanted to have the right tools to solve this mysterious Health affliction.

Yes, I agree with you. I was surprised by that 5% figure that Dr. Barnard mentioned. I think the takeaway here is that you should avoid oils and you don't need to go out of your way to get "healthy fats" in your diet. My average dietary fat intake is around 20% and I feel great! 😄🌱

I love Dr. Barnard but the FACT is EVERY-BODY is different and for some a vegan diet is REALLY BAD. Dr Zach Bush is a vegan and opened a vegan health center to help his patients reverse their dis-ease in their body using whole foods plant based and found that worked great for 30% and made 30% worse and the other 40% had mixed results. So that being said people need to do the work to find out what foods in what combos work for THEIR body. There are carnivores that only eat meat that do just fine ( some Dr 's ). And test their blood levels and do scans to prove it is a personal and very individual thing.
@supermeseriasu

For some it's bad because they don't understand that you have to eat more in veganism, not less. Most people who start this lifestyle do not know how to feed themselves. So did I. In the first stage, I ate insufficiently and felt physically ill. It lasted about 2 months. After properly informing myself, I started veganism again at the age of 41. I felt physically better than when I was 20 years old when I was a professional footballer.Veganism does not mean tons of salad as many think.

Curious about what Dr. Barnard thinks about this newer study finding no link between Omega 3 and prostate cancer. Also, why does he so often make fun of folk music? As a musician himself, surely he must understand that this is a broad category of music with some very accomplished musicians in it. Some even with degrees from the Berklee School of Music. As a musician in that tradition I find it a bit offensive to perpetrate a stereotype that is so dismissive of a beautiful tradition of music that by the way has a wonderful and intelligent fan base. Many of these people might be open to a message of healthy plant based eating. But maybe not if they hear you making fun of them. I personally am not a fan of certain electrified and processed music that has a lot of superfluous ornamentation going on or what I consider to be simply too much self indulgent soloing that doesn’t really lead anywhere. But I wouldn’t make fun of those who enjoy that music and experience it differently.

My daughter was having a health issue related to digestion, so I took her to our family doctor. When he found out that she was a vegetarian ( almost vegan) he rimmed me out on how did I allow my 14 years old daughter not to eat meat and told her to “stop with this phase of not eating meat so typical in teenagers d/t social media”. What?!?! In Canada, if you have a family doctor you are very lucky even if it is a lousy one.
