Many thanks to Nicole, Dr. Sharpe, IWS, the Navy and everyone who assisted in this rescue!❤️️
Viewers of the remote Bald Canyon camera installed by Dr. Peter Sharpe noticed that one of the three BC chicks fell from the nest sometime on or before 4/22.
The nesting tree is located in a canyon on San Clemente Island belonging to the Navy. The nest is about 10-15 feet off the ground, surrounded by a thick underbrush. There is no sound at the nest due to the Navy's requirements.
Today on 4/24, Nicole was able to hike up to the nest with assistant, recover the chick and place it safely back to the nest. It appears the chick was fed at some point during the adventure as they did a very healthy PS (Poop Shot) shortly after being reunited with the siblings ( 13:36 ).
One of the parents flew back to the nest as soon as Nicole and her assistant left the area.
