You are the 1st to paint the cork roadbed before laying the track. I wished I thought of it 12 years ago. :(

Painting the cork first is genius.

Good job. I find it helps to sand the cork to smooth it out, yes it's a little messy (to tell the truth a lot messy), but we'll worth the effort and you can super elevate the roadbed at the same time, try it as what you think, you might like it better. I agree spraying is messy you get all over the place thanks for a great video...

Here in the UK sidings were rarely ballasted so im going with ALAN PUMB'S recommendation

I noticed that you did not place any full strength glue down the center of the track. Is the 50/50 mix sufficient to hold the ballast there?

Hi Gabe, 50/50 works great, I now use a 1/3 glue to 2/3 water mix and that works great for ballast and most scenery.

if your ballasting switches don't place any glue or ballast near the control rods they will gum up and the switch won't work.

Great video. I thought i heard you say you were using ‘fine’ gravel, but the container label said ‘medium’. Please clarify.

Thanks for pointing that out, I used medium ballast. They do make a fine and now that I think about it fine grade would have look good on an N scale layout.
