It’s because he’s been there. That’s why recovering addicts are the best program runners, house managers and sponsors. You need someone who’s been there before. Someone who sees thru your bullshit and tells you what you need to hear. Bam wanted to get back to what the world saw that was so special about him. And Steve is like no bro you’re a loving person, you’re so much more than that. I’ve seen it. Bam starts telling a story that might notve been 100% true (because he didn’t want to look a certain way) and Steve, realizing what’s going on, immediately hops on board and changes the trajectory with truth and love.

@@Gir-Riff-raffe what's the timestamp for the story bam was telling?
@Gir-Riff-raffe

@@ivanmeza7089 not necessary to time stamp. He was talking about how he ran off from rehab to get a MRI. Only to get picked up on the way to the hospital by fans he never met before and was forced to do a shot before they’d take him to get his broken arm looked at. The story’s integrity isn’t really the issue. True or not, scapegoat or not, bams convinced it happened so it may as well be true right then and there. But it was a glimpse in his mind, that the world just sees him as a party animal, and Steve related very well with it and fought back by talking about anything BUT skateboarding. VICE did a very warm mini doc on bam recently and his recovery has been all about skateboarding. Getting back to himself and his buddy of like 25 years just spent a whole hour saying you’re so much more than that. And yeah, we were scared to death when he went on a ventilator with Covid related pneumonia because nobody ever lives thru it.
@terapr0

@@Gir-Riff-raffe It doesn't sound like he was "forced" to take that shot, especially when the story evolves into him taking multiple shots and a hit of ketamine. Then went with with them to party at a strip club and then crashed at their place. All of this before actually going to the hospital.

Steve-o’s extremely gentle but firm correction of Bam’s skewed worldview is peak love and brotherhood. Bam’s lucky he’s got someone like that in his life. “I broke out to get an MRI and was forced to take a shot,” and then Steve pulled out the rest of the story where Bam got drunk and took ketamine at the strip club. “It’s bullshit I can’t see my kid,” and then Steve pulled out the rest of the story of Bam punching holes in walls/ having meltdowns and why CPS and Bam’s wife would have an issue with that. I hope so too. However, it seems like from my perspective, that SteveO will keep an arms distance from anyone who may tempt him to fall off the wagon, and rightfully so. I watch that short clip with Steven and Mike Busey back stage and it just feels like Steve is suffering through the awkwardness while also not fully opening up- ultimately to protect his own sobriety. I see that with some of his guests as well, Aaron Carter is one that comes right to mind. I say that to say, I hope Bam isn’t expecting to pick up the relationship where it was back in the “good” days, because I don’t think Steven is ready to fully open himself up for Bam. Im afraid if Bam is expecting that, and doesn’t receive it, that he could return to more self destructive behavior. Of course, I don’t know either guy personally so this is just an armchair opinion, but I know what recovery takes, and I know how some of the oldest and strongest friendships can’t be rekindled safely. I'm a psych nurse and have worked at several psych units. There are some workers who are absolute assholes. Some of them gaslight. I had one girl flipping out on an aide. The staff grabbed her and restrained her. I walked in to start my shift. She was great. She liked me because I just was friendly with her and if I asked her to relax she said I didn't come off as douchy. She would calm down. I walked in and asked her "what happened?" She says she was singing and dancing and then aide told her to stop acting "crazy". I turned to the aide and he said she lied. When I got his side it didn't make sense. I took off the restraints and she was cool. I gave her her meds and she was chill the entire shift. Some staff are absolutely gaslighters. I normally didn't restrain because normally I could get patients if they're not completely psychotic to just chill. It's not a big deal. You just gotta show respect to the patients. That's all they're asking for.

This was probably my favorite podcast of yours. The best part about it was that Bam was actually there and not through a webcam. Plus, actually, hearing Bam talk about everything that he's been going through for the past few years was kind of like ok here's what's really happening. Thank you, Steve O, for bringing him back once again and I can't wait to see what Bam and yourself put together.

Bam has lived a life of instant gratification, the past 20+ years. That’s what made Bam. Anything he wanted, he could have. Money wasn’t an issue. That’s where his biggest issue is. The fact that he has to put a lifetime of work into sobriety. He can’t buy sobriety, he can’t prank Don Vito or Phil into getting it, he can’t call up MTV. He has to 100% do it on his own, and it’s a lifetime battle. I truly believe if there was a magic way to make Bam sober, he’d take it in a second. I believe he wants that, but he doesn’t want the journey to get it.

You know what, Bam was not only missing 'sobriety' in his life, he was missing 'maturity' as well. And I feel like he is finally starting to find it... just listen to him speak. Wow, he's like a new man. Also, Steve-O extending that olive branch to Bam, truly wanting to help his friend by spinning him around 180°, was so nice to see. I really think at some point in that interview Steve-O was like 'wow dude, I can actually help this guy' and didn't hold back with great advice and well-earned compliments. Oh the humanity, when we witness two Jackass stars restoring our faith in humanity again, by promoting goodwill amongst themselves (and future content for us). All the best Bam! And to Steve-O as well. I am really hoping we get to see some collaboration soon, my dudes! Your Canadian ass friend 🇨🇦

Growing up with Viva La Bam, Jackass, and the 90's era - this has been one of the most touching episodes to watch. Steve-O, through such hard work and self-realization and growth, has become one of the most selfless and wise individuals ever. He has come further than most, and has pushed through to the other side and truly enjoys a healthy, content life. His care for Bam to push through his struggles, and to become a post-90's Bam success, is so heartwarming. I know Steve-O will do anything he can to help his longtime friend get there, I just hope Bam takes this advice and support and does something with it. I've been a fan of Bam and Steve-O since I was a kid, and I still am today. You got this Bam!

Seeing Bam laughing and smiling again... Man, I can't even describe how happy it makes me as a long time fan of Bam, CKY, HIM, Jackass and so many other things that helped shape who I am today. I really hope him and Steve-o work closely together on some stuff because, honestly, he gave some great advice. And Bam is always going to have people like me, who's whole style was impacted by him, supporting him and wishing him the best as a person, as a father and as a talented creative mind who has more to offer than he knows.

Glad that Bam has a friend like Steve-O. He's being supportive without enabling Bam and keeping him honest without putting him down. Hearing him re-direct Bam when he gets set on skating is honestly pretty top-level. If Steve-O's body ever gets to the point where he can't tour or do stunts, he'd be good at helping others rehab. Great to see Bam doing better, though. Honestly I think if he can just hold himself accountable he can stay sober. Really pulling for him.

They were full of giggles tho. I'll never forget the moment and don't have any regrets. It's ok to have a little fun with your kids. I'll be honest I really like Bam and had lots of childhood memories of whatching him, but I think he's a long way from being sober. In all these stories it's always someone else's fault on him failing. He doesn't hold any accountability for any of his actions. Until he owns up that he is where he is because of his previous actions, the help he gets won't truly mean anything

Bam, been following you since before CKY. That person event or traumatic experiences are not the reasons you're this way. You are not your dysfunction. You're trying to fill in an empty void in a world that doesn't understand how to intervene or how to help, regardless of how well anyone thinks they know you. You need to acknowledge this. Once you realize this, it is only you who can save yourself, you'll come to terms with acceptance and begin healing before it's too late. The healing is the best part. You can find it anywhere within yourself and be renewed. Stay alive Bam.

Forced him to stay in rehab and it costs 600 fucking thousand dollars. Stevo always gets creepy about defending this anytime Bam is on Bam always makes it clear that he felt like they were milking him in some ways and stevo cuts Bam off and gets frustrated. The more they talk about it the sketchier it looks. Why is Stevo more worried about the people saying free Bam than Bam himself. Especially when Stevo has made it very clear over the years his biggest concern is himself with his attention whoring. Watch the wild ride almost every week but every one of these Bam episodes just feels off and not cause of Bam.
