I'm planning on printing the covers with Polymaker Polysmooth transparent PLA. Great Model. Can't wait to get it in the mail.

I'd replace certain covers with acrylic so one can see the workings on the inside.

whats the point of it being motorized if the moving parts cant be seen?
@nakleh

the moving part covers are all held on by magnets, so you can easily remove them to see the moving parts

Two things. 1. If it isn't going to run off compressed air, and has to be driven by an electric motor, then you need to make more parts transparent or put windows in it to see the moving parts. 2. I'd like to see a 9 cylinder radial version.

I do have the same issues with too much friction/tension in the system, so the DC Motor is not able to do a full spin. I lubricated all moving parts, but still that issue. Kinda sad, since the idea and the design is great. An improved DC Motor would fix this for sure, because it is really weak.

Would it be possible to get assembly instructions as a PDF? The part numbers would be important to me as parts are assembled in the video without specifying the part or plate number. Or a summary of how the part number corresponds to this part. Many thanks in advance!

The model is really impressive. Those parts do look as clean as a resin print. Are they? Or did they get some post-processing?

I just printed the model in grey. Looks exactly like in the video, no post processing required. Parts fit perfectly fine and even the supports can be removed without any issues. Impressive!

All of the files for the bambu lab kits have printed flawlessly for me. It’s a great machine.

@@jens-3949 I wonder if I sliced it wrong (I did 3 walls and gyroid, otherwise it's mostly stock), or if it's my choice of PLA (I didn't use Bambu PLA). I had to file a lot, it tends to bind, tight fits everywhere...

@@zviratko One key thing to remember is making sure your PLA is as dry as possible. I started drying all my filament before printing anything and it has resulted in MUCH better outcomes. I am really considering building a workshop space and putting in a huge dehumidifier and climate control for all my stuff at this point because it's so much better.

Printed this on my X1C, it does move, but not that great. I think it will work much better if I get around reprinting it in PETG instead of PLA (I already switched few parts to PETG for it to even work). Also needed some filing and lubrication for the motor to be even able to spin it. It's an impressive model, but I don't think it's the perfect showcase for 3D printing with all the screws and tight fits. Holding my fingers crossed for a community remix with printed springs and better design actually made with 3D printing design in mind.

Mine is burning up too, it will stop after 1 to 2 slow rotations. Where did you have to do filing?

When you say "CV" glue- do you mean "CA" glue?
@infiniteone11

Very likely. CA - Cyanoacrylate - superglue, for the magnets, I assume

This model is awful, so many places where its designed for you to screw threads into 2 walls thick when using the provided profile leading to many parts shearing in two. The idea is great but the final implementation needs work.
