By not giving them a job, you are increasing the chances of them having to commit another crime by keeping them in high risk situations like dangerous neighborhoods, hunger, homelessness, no medical care, etc. If someone can't get resources by honest ways, they may have to get them illegally.

Then i get an Email informing me my offer for employment has been withdrawn. And it has happened several times. So based on my experiences, id rather just answer that question on the application, and go from there, than to get myself interview ready, get offered employment, then get rejected anyway after results of background check come back.

America is the #1 country for incarceration with no rehabilitation, repeated offenders and the biggest prison population in the world. Everything’s a crime here and you don’t even have to commit one. People who commit minor crimes should not suffer for the rest of their lives. Stop the madness and stop being a sheep. Private Prison investors want you to think this way, so that they can continue to make a profit off of American Citizens.

I mean it is vital for hospitals or daycare to know if the applicant was convicted of a Felony, however there should be a box next to that question that asks convicted of what? And if it is minor things such as marijuana possession in 1996 or DUI (things that irrelevant and don't define a person should not be used to judge a person)

I agree to an extant. If you did a crime when you were young that isn't serious whatsoever, you should be able to get a job anywhere. You do stupid things when you're young and impressionable. Shop lifting as a teen shouldn't get in the way of a career. We grow up and learn from our mistakes However, if it's something serious, sorry. There's not much I can say if you were arrested for something serious. Certain things can't be dismissed no matter how bad you want the job. So don't fuck up kids. Cuz it could cost you your dream job when you become an adult

I personally feel that non violent crimes whould be wiped off after 10 years. Having said that, it is unfortunate that crimes stain you for life. I work in law and see the impact of this on people. If only people would consider this prior to committing crimes. I would employ someone with a criminal record depending on the crime and when it was committed. This must be disclosed though. The job role would also have an influence. I would not employ a murderer, terrorist or peodofile.

Truth is Truth Your question is vague and not really understandable... But no. He served his time for his crime, why should he NEVER be allowed a good job because of it? Whats the point of getting out of jail if you cant get a job to support yourself? Like he said in the video, alot of people commit crimes at younger ages. I'm not an apologist for them, however 19 year old server 20 years, gets out at 39, your telling me he should continue to be punished for the crime he committed 20 years ago? But of course I'm sure that's what alot of people say / want, until they are convicted of a crime.

Truth is Truth It depends I think. I'm a small business owner (VERY small) and I serve people in their homes. Most are frail - just out of hospital. While in theory I agree that one should not discriminate, if my responsibility is to care for these people, their children or their pets, I would not feel comfortable hiring someone with a violent felony. In addition, if the 'non-violent' one was theft of some sort, I could not hire someone. My first responsibility is to my clients. It would depend on the job and the workplace, I think. If in a workplace with structure and supervision, I'd say great. But if unsupervised work where other peoples' property or person might be at risk - couldn't do it.

There's so many jobs felons shouldn't be able to have. I don't want my child to be taught or cared for by a felon. I wouldn't want an elderly parent to be cared for by a felon. I wouldn't want a sick spouse in a hospital to be cared for by a felon. If you do the crime you deserve all the consequences that come along with it.

Well the reality is much more complex than what you are stating. Many people are unfairly incarcerated. Secondly, the legal system can be weaponized to shift the goalposts on anyone. Thirdly, many "crimes" people are living as second class citizens for aren't even illegal anymore. Take marijuana possession for example, many states have legalized it but many are still struggling for past marijuana convictions.
