Thank you. Did you notice the only Police Officer who ever marches in step on these events at Windsor was leading? He does this every time . Good on him.

The only other member of the Police I have seen keep time with the band whilst walking is a Met Police Horse - it's an enormous grey and is quite beautiful.

There was one many ears ago that perfect marched, he was filmed by a young boy, call sign "Windsor soldier" or something similar. I have tried to search for his videos but to no avail..He used the "bobby style helmet" at all times.

long before him was the Chief Constable in his Dress Unifom...and he often turned around to insure the safety of the traffic escort,,then swing about in step... Look under Windsorsoldiers Rare No Drum Major !

@@danielmeyers3467 Thank you for pointing this out. I found the march you refer, to from 14years ago.. There is a comment from the son of that Police Officer, saying at the time he had 25years service. I have seen reference to that officer before. It would be a good example to see that done every time, instead of having some out of step officer casually wandering in front, as so often happens..
Yes, they certainly contribute to the unique and rousing sound (and I say that as a former euphonium player for whom the bass trombone is one of the few brass instruments I've never tried playing).

It would be so good to see the guards as well 🙏

Hi Anita, yes I'm mindful about these comments that the guards are *supported by* the band, and try and get them featured as well as the band in my own filming, but the practical problem is that when you film the guards, the crowds catch up with you and it becomes almost impossible to get back to the front of the band especially if, like me, you don't have the athletic prowess of Military Events and others!

So nice to see the police officer “ marching” in step!

Yes, he does it every time it's his turn at this event. Nice to know someone else appreciates it. I think it is very subtle but respectful to those he is leading in his official capacity. Shame the others do do follow his example.

He also turns out the barracks in the military fashion! he does a sharp wheel at the centre of the road like the band!

With that bass drummer trying to destroy the instrument how could you not be in step?🤔

@@clivehughes2179 It's one of the favourite marches for bands in the English speaking world. "With the beginning of the 20th century, the British music publisher Hawkes & Son started a composition for marching music. Wilhelm Zehle [a Prussian] won the award four times with Viscount Nelson, (1900) Army and Marine, (1901) Wellington, (1906) and Trafalgar (1908). It seems unlikely that Zehle gave any of his marches their British names; he did, however, accept the competition prize money and royalties from the British firm of Hawkes & Son.
