A 25 year old who can get that low - and he did have to struggle a little - is amazing. My Father and Grandfather were both trained Oktavists and I remember my Grandfather going very low and you couldn't really hear the note but you could feel it reverberating through the air. It'll be great to see what Dmitry will be capable of as he grows into a fully mature Basso Profondo.

@None Ya What does Moscovia the old name for Russia mean? Most names for countries have a meaning. that is nothing new. Yes it is an old Ukrainian song because Ukraine too has a tradition and culture. In fact the words to the song were written in the middle of the nineteenth century.
@catnap387
3 жыл бұрын
@None Ya Ukraine as a self governing independent state didn't exist but the people who shared a language, culture and traditions DID. They are known as Ukrainians. Ukraine's territory was occupied by imperial states namely Austro-Hungary and Russia who had their own names for the people of Ukraine. However the Ukrainians have a DISTINCT IDENTITY which has kept them together although their masters, Russia in particular, would prefer that Ukrainians would be ignorant of their distinct identity from Russia. Hence it is VERY IMPORTANT to emphasise what is Ukraine's so Ukraine's heritage does not get masked/hidden as Russian or anything else. There were several new independent countries created in the 20th century, Ukraine being one. In conclusion it is very correct to clarify that the song here is Ukrainian and not anything else!

Utterly mind-blowingly phenomenal; an all-round triple BRAVOS performance !!! And the soloist has everything: great voice, great technique (and great looks, too) !!!! 😯😯🙂🙂 WOW !!!! Added later: I am an 80 years old concert soloist and choirmaster, and spent decades trying to achieve such a clear low range. He has it all!! Also plaudits to the chorus and director. We see too little of him, but he is obviously a master musician. In all my years in music, I have to confess to be overwhelmed by this performance. Again, triple BRAVOS and best wishes!!!😃😃😃 (I had to sing the last passage up an octave: envious but admiring of this young man. 🙂🙂) I heard Monteur in his late 80's and the wonderful Stokowski at over 80 in Boston and later in London( all marvelously nuanced interpretations) Of course I am not in tha6 outstanding class, but like them, I'm aiming for 100, to make good music, and support the fine younger musicians and directors I may find, until God calls me home. I hope there is music in Heaven !!!
