The 50-60hz indication at the back mate is for the voltage. Nothing to do with the refresh rate. All B&Q Beovision TVs are multi system. They accept PAL & NTSC signals just fine. So they will display 50h\ and 60hz with no problems at all.
@Darkbeatdk

What tripped me up is that some of the early sets only says "50hz" on the back, which I thought was a weird thing to write if it had nothing to do with the refresh rate, but if they all work that's great news. My buddy has been looking for a 15" one and they don't say 60hz on the back.

My Wii (the way I play PC Engine games on this thing) isn’t hooked up right now, so I tested with the next best thing: Season 1 of Miami Vice on DVD. The soundtrack in that is intended for 5.1 setup, but like other DVDs it sounds great in stereo as well. Cranking the audio really fills the room well, so yes; I would say that it has great stereo separation.

If it's earlier than revision 3.1 things get a bit tricky, as you have to bridge a jumper on the AV board to access the service menu, but it can be done. Personally, I'm not very electronically savvy, so I wouldn't do it, but check out the shmups forum post in the description to read more about it.

I have this TV just today, but cannot hook it up until Monday. I wanted a nice looking CRT and got the MX4000 real cheap. couple questions though please; - my software is older SW 2.0, so does that mean I won't get as nice a picture as you have, due to lack of image settings options? - love scan lines, and I also hope to play some Vampire Night, Operation Wolf, Point Blank.. all my favourite lightgun games, do you know if they work well on this even with that contrast screen? I'm bit concerned that might cause problems. thanks

Congratulations on your purchase! I think the consensus of the shmups forum thread was that older SW didn't have access to the color balance and intensity settings in the service menu, but it might still look really good. Lightgun games are no problems with the contrast screen. I play Confidential Mission in the video and I've also been messing around with Time Crisis and Virtua Cop recently. When it comes to CRT, you probably won't run into problems, unless you bought some of the newer ones that output at 100hz... Light Guns HATE those TVs.

@Darkbeatdk

Thank you. I've heard of some people being able to remove the contrast screen no problem, but that seems to be easiest on some of the early models that use plastic contrast screens. The later ones use plexiglass which you gotta handle a little more carefully. I think the extra darkness looks great in person, more than it does in the video, but it's probably down to personal preference.

I don't have the remote. Can i still use it for games or is the remote required to set it on Av etc?
@Darkbeatdk
7 жыл бұрын
The B&O is a bit finnicky in that regard since it NEEDS are remote. Like, the AV might not even be plug-n-play, as you might have to go to a menu to set the "Sockets" to tell the TV if the port is used for a VHS, DVD player or something else. I had to set mine up when I got it, because the settings it was at DID show the gameplay, but in black and white for some reason. Most older models require the official B&O remote, which can be a bit expensive, since it's usually scalpers selling those. If you can't find one, it might be worth looking for an extra set that includes the remote. However, if you have a TV with SW 4.7 or above (as seen on the label on the back) you can use a clone remote instead, which are much cheaper.

That’s probably because you need to adjust then “sockets”. Unlike a normal tv, the scart port on the back has to be told to operate with RGB, except they don’t call it that directly. Try finding the option to adjust the sockets in the menu and set one of the ports to “video” or one of the other options. Check the guide in the description of the video.

@@abdelll9737 yes that’s another fun issue. What you can try to do is starting by using the suggested “default” numbers from the forum post and go from there. The thing about low SW number sets is that you cannot access the service menu from the remote, but have to shortcircuit something on the chassis, which means that they are sort of a hassle, but you could also get lucky and get a TV where everything is perfectly alligned and you don't have to mess around with at all.

@Darkbeatdk
5 жыл бұрын
Yeah sure. Here in Denmark we got it pretty easy with RGB video over scart being our standard connector on CRT TVs like this one, so you won't really need any adapters. A lot of consoles even does RGB out of the box and won't need any modification: SEGA MegaDrive, Super Nintendo, PlayStation series of consoles... all they need is the right cable and I've been buying mine from retrogamingcables.co.uk/. They are high quality and way better than those cheap Chinese alternatives you might find on eBay, and they will give you a nice picture without any visual or audio noise. It's a bit of a monkey paw wish that we have easy capacity for great picture and our consoles and retro games here all are 50hz pal, because then the games are running 17% slower than American and Japanese games AND the picture is often squeezed together on the screen and doesn't look right, so modding or just buying American or Japanese consoles and games is my recommendation. Let me know if there is anything else you want to know about.
