Today, Nampla went to ''Visakha Bucha ,'' which is said to be the most important Buddhist festival for Thai people.
Although we are not familiar with this festival, it appears to be an event to celebrate the day of Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and death.
Even though we Japanese are Buddhists, we didn't know anything about this festival, so we decided to go to a nearby temple to see what was going on.
During this festival, a ritual called wiantian is held in the evening, where people walk three times clockwise around the main hall while holding candles. It was a fantastic and beautiful event, and I was able to focus my mind while making a wish, making it a great event.
It was my first time to go to Wat Dhammongkol, a temple near Punnawithi BTS station, and the highlights of this temple are the world's largest jade Buddha statue and the pagoda, which is said to be the largest in Thailand.
It is said that a jade stone was excavated in Canada and purchased to make a Buddha statue.
The real thing was so shiny and beautiful that I was truly overwhelmed. The celestial painting above the Buddha statue is also very beautiful, so if you go to this temple, you should definitely go see it.
The upper floor of the pagoda seems to be an observation deck,
We couldn't go the time we went. I would like to go there next time I have a chance.
There is a room on the lower floor of the pagoda with a Buddha statue, and it was also a beautiful, luxurious and wonderful place. The paintings on the wall were beautiful, and I sat in this room for a while looking at them.
I was especially impressed by the horseshoe crab picture and the map of Nepal. Nepal is said to be the birthplace of Buddha, so on today's festival day, Buddha was probably born here.
This temple is located between Punnawithi and Udon Suk BTS stations.
It was a wonderful place, so if you have a chance, please go there.
