They really gotta listen to Tim, most of the examples of "forced scarcity" are not that at all; they are just underestimating the demand, and thus the supply is constrained. Remember, Nintendo is the biggest brand in gaming, but not every venture is a smash success. So they start with small supply drops. And when they do well? Sure it may take a while, but they will eventually be reprinted. Just look at amiibo. We are so far from the early days of amiibo collecting where now it is trivially easy to get every amiibo, and if somehow you get lucky and miss out on something? A reprint will happen soon (this year refreshed basically every amiibo line). Even 3D All-Stars isn't "forced scarcity" because scarcity requires there to be a small supply. That game sold just over 9 million units, and go into any store still selling video games and you'll see plenty. It is hardly "scarce". SNES Classic? Proven by K&K to not be a forced scarce drop, it actually went through several print runs increasing in number each time. The demand just increased each time. And then when the recent Game & Watches came around, they overmanufactured and tonnes of those are just eating space in places where games are sold It's simple economics.

The only reason they've held back DK64 (imo the biggest leftover game from that library) in my mind is an incoming remake. That's the only thing I can think of. Cause in all honesty, this should have launched with Expansion Pack but it didn't.

What’s left for NSO N64??? Both Goemon games, all 3 Bomberman titles, Castlevania Legacy of Darkness, Smash 64, I could go on and on.

Nintendo needs to do better for people that pay for expansion pack. I would love Goemon 64 especially since it's hard to emulate for some reason.

It is surprising to hear that these guys aren’t Evil Dead fans considering the generation they are from (especially Greg as he is always saying he loves supernatural horror). And it’s even more surprising that they aren’t fans of Ash Vs Evil Dead as that was one of the best TV shows of the last decade. As a fan of the show this new game looks pretty great. Though $25 is more expensive than I thought it would be.

MASSIVE You're Wrong for this one: Banjo-Tooie ALREADY supported widescreen on N64 straight out of the gate! Proper widescreen too, it expands the sides rather than cropping the top and bottom. The major improvement for Rare Replay / NSO is that it doesn't tank the frame rate to 15fps when you do this.

I always thought a badges system à la Pokémon would be a fun design approach for a Nintendo-style “Trophy” system. Have a bunch of default bronze, silver, and gold badges (maybe star-shaped?) that developers can just auto plug-in, but have the option to make custom badge art that represents your game specifically like the actual Pokémon badges that you earn in Pokémon.

Tim, at the time, we never would have thought that they’d do away with the virtual console, but they did. I would not be surprised in the least if they start NSO from scratch with the Switch 2.

There are no Final Fantasy Adventure 2/3 on GB, those are Secret of Mana and Trials of Mana. All three of those games are available already in the Collection of Mana that Square Enix sells, so those are extremely unlikely to receive an NSO release. The same is true of Final Fantasy Legend 1-3, which were released as Collection of Saga: Final Fantasy Legend, so again, extremely unlikely. SNES Yoshi's Cookie and The New Tetris were developed by Bullet Proof Software, a company that no longer exists. All its rights were transferred to The Tetris Company, which makes The New Tetris slightly more likely (though I'm surprised to not see it in the upcoming Tetris Forever which has 11 BPS Tetris titles, it not being featured there severely decreases its odds of coming to NSO I feel), and Yoshi's Cookie very difficult for Nintendo to license properly. Magical Tetris Challenge is a twofold licensing nightmare (potentially threefold depending on how well Capcom negotiated their rights) between Disney and The Tetris Company, and when these licensing challenges come up they usually cost so much money they try to make them full releases. Donkey Kong 64 has a slightly unique rights issue (which is why it took forever to eventually to come to Wii U Virtual Console and it never came to Wii VC) because it contains the entirety of Rare's first game, Jetpac. As such Nintendo can never freely rerelease the game, and must negotiate with Microsoft every time they want to do so. I have no doubt it will eventually come though, they just seem to be spreading out Rare releases. The sad truth about Pokemon on NSO is it will likely never happen, but maybe not for the reasons you think. What do all the Pokemon games on Switch have in common? No cloud saves. This is because cloud saves could be used to clone Pokemon (using similar methods as ranked games with cloud saves letting you scum your rank). NSO supports cloud saves on every game, and you cannot turn this off on a game by game basis. So old Pokemon games would require a separate application, and at that point, a big bundle seems like a better utilization of their resources given their constraints.
