The Bengaluru Bannerghatta Biological Park is situated 22 kms from Bangalore / Bengaluru City and can be easily reached through public or personal transport. It's a must visit place in Bangalore and it is spread over a massive area of 104 sq.km.
The main attraction of this park is the Grand Safari that will take you deep into the forest. You will get to see Deers, Elephants, Bears, Lions, White Tigers, Bengal Tigers, Wild Boar, Jackal, Fox and many endangered species. The other attractions include the Butterfly Park, the Zoo, the Children's Park and a museum. Cameras are allowed, both still and video by paying a fair amount.
The Park is open throughout the year and the best time to visit is during the months of November to June when the weather is good and wildlife is easily spotted. Ideally you will require around 8 hours to fully cover the Park. So you should make sure to reach there by 9AM. Park timings are 9AM to 5PM and remains closed on Tuesdays.
There are ample space for parking and 2-3 entry points to the Park. Adjoining the Park, there are restaurants, wherein you can enjoy eating some good food sitting inside or under the trees in open. There are even couple of standard hotels with good family accommodation incase you decide to stay for a night. It is especially good for non-locals or for that matter for anybody who would like to cover the Park in detail.
The Park is well planned and anybody visiting first time can easily follow the directions & information provided on the display boards at different places. Even the staff, there are professional and will guide you through for any query you may have. The Park is a plastic free zone, so make sure you don't carry plastic bags!
As you enter the Park, you will find lots of small eateries and joints serving local delicacies like chaat, pakoraas, hot & cold beverages and many attractive items for children.
There are ample counters for buying tickets and you can even pay by Card. There is also an ATM machine installed near the ticket counter.
There are a good number of buses (AC & non-AC) leaving at regular intervals for Safari ride. You will have to gather at the designated pickup point and as and when your turn comes you can board the bus. Benches are provided so you don't have to stand long waiting.
There are also 6, 7 & 8 Seater (AC & non-AC) Jeep and Car for Safari rides. This is ideal if you are going in a small group. Though the price is on the higher side, it is worth every penny as you get to watch all the animals very closely during the ride. I took a non-AC Jeep as you can peep outside as well as point and move your camera more freely.
This Park is ideal for nature lovers, photographers and videographers. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The Butterfly Park was under maintenance during my visit and I was a bit disappointed! But the overall visit was worth every moment!
Please feel free to ask me anything regarding the Park and I will be more than happy to answer them.
Cheers! and keep travelling....
