Survivability going up over time may have to do with the inflating of bandit parties. A pack of 100 looters moves a lot slower than a pack of 20, so unless the caravan just runs straight into them, they probably won't get caught by bandits as much in the late game

I think you should also be able to give them troops up to there max party size. Then, if the troops die the respawn back to whatever grade of troops you paid for (normal/elite). I've been scratching my head on this caravan system as well, still haven't quite gotten any consistent results. As you said, the companion skill nor the troop tier seem to make any difference on survivability/profitable. I'm all about risk vs. reward. What's the point in having an upgraded option if it doesn't make a bit of difference. I really hope devs revaluate this system.

One tip I can give is: Scout is more important than trade for caravans. You want them alive to make money so scouting is their best bet to avoid enemies. Find someone with high scout/trade then invest points into the other.

Great stuff! Curious on experience gains, any changes? I also see in a below comment that you were getting leadership exp? Great stuff x2! 🙂 Second question, how were profits at the start (229 per day)? That's the average of 200 caravans, so I could still get bad luck? My old games, if you tried early on you would/could get some serious -2000 per day... Edit: explain more. When I start a new game, you rush to get money. After your first 20k, you needed to decide to buy a shop or start a caravan. The shop would always be low income or none, but safe. Caravans had some really bad streaks but also some good streaks - it was really hit of miss. So I usually went with the safe option, as shops in the long run are awesome.
@Flesson19

I dont use shops or caravans for money, its either renown or caravans gaining skills for companions. I just need them to keep my wages even till I can get my Khans guard trained. The problem with starting caravans before day 150 is the economy hasnt stabilized yet. all those super high prices at the start the caravans pay for, then as the price drops its hard for them to sell them. That is why profits are low at first then ramp up

Some things come to mind: 1) too many troops in your garrison. Fiefs can only sustain so many people. Towns are generally 300 and castle 200; going above lower's potential max prosperity 2) you have reach the maximum prosperity for the fief. Your example of 6k prosp, for something like Poros you might be just yo-yo'ing around 6k (without perks) 2b) also all towns eventually reach a prosperity limit where they will start to starve, this is how the game stops towns from reaching 100k prosperity. Each town also has potential max prosp 3) you are using a mod that affects food or garrison

@Flesson19

1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 are before full release. When full release hit instead of going to 2.0 then went back to 1.0 so that is full release. 1.1.0 is still called beta branch. Now when they do hotfixes they create new smaller branches like 1.1.1, 1.1.2 and 1.1.3. As pc and console can have different numbers. So it all depends on if your modding or on console. But 1.1.3 is the latest version of the game
