Hi, I live in Quebec, Canada and we currently having the same issue with the new bill C-21 and the G-4 and G-46. The SKS is specifically name to be ban… It’s frustrating! The new amendment what drop on the same day I decided to buy my first one. I was lucky to buy a 1978 triangle 26 unissued. As a person who has visited Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, what is the history of Canada and firearms? Is it also written into its constitution or can the prime minister erase all gun rights overnight with the stroke of a pen?
@gadgethunter5732
Жыл бұрын
@@Tonymontanayayo Pretty much. The Minister of Justice can use orders in council to ban/prohibit firearms with no consultation or debate with parliament. It has been used several times. Usually it's not an over night affair. They give gun owners a few years before the prohibitions come into effect, but they could make it immediate if they wanted to. Frustrating when our election system allows a party that comes in second place in the popular vote to form a minority government. Then they claim that they are speaking for the whole of the Canadian people.

@@gadgethunter5732 you know the saying “the grass looks greener on the other side”? One thing that I think Canada does better than here is healthcare and cost of prescriptions. While it’s far from perfect, Canada ensures it’s people at least some kind of subsidized care. It’s not like that here, if you get hit by a car, get congenitally induced cancer, or any disease or injury that you had no control over, depending in what state you live, the tab falls on you. I’m a second amendment supporter till my last breath, but healthcare should be a right and not a privilege. Unfortunately, there’s no political party that thinks like me here.

@@Tonymontanayayo Yes that is a shame . An illness there can lead to financial ruin. The health care here is not completely universal though. There are still things we need to pay for. And we pay more for everything as a result of that health care and other perks.

i have an sks triangle26 still in cosmoline , am i better off leavIng it that for value as opposed to cleaning and using?
@Triangle26
Жыл бұрын
Short answer, yes. All else being equal, collectors will pay more for an example still in original cosmoline than one that’s not. The longer we go without fresh imports, the less examples will be in that condition, and the more it’s value will rise. Exactly what that difference will be is impossible predict, but it’s safe to assume that there will be a difference. That said, I *always* clean and use my rifles. Even if you look at rifles as investments, most of the fun of investing in guns is getting to use and enjoy them while you own them. If you are just going to leave it in a closet for 10 years, you might as well have just put the money in the stock market or something. The difference in monetary value between a cosmo packed rifle and a clean rifle won’t change your life, but the memories you make while using the rifle might. That’s my perspective anyway, ultimately it’s a personal decision.

The Rasheed missed being on the list because while millions of Type 56's (see what I did there?) were made and imported, only a couple thousand Rasheed rifles were imported, most people don't even know what they are. Really enjoy your content.
@Triangle26
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it. It's funny to me, because the Rasheed *technically* uses detachable box magazines, which is clearly at the heart of the WA "assault weapon" definition. I believe the presence (or theoretic availability) of detachable magazines is central because of all things the Italian BM-59 was banned, whereas the M1 Garand was not. Its bizarre. In any case, to your point I didn't see the Type 56 Carbine anywhere on the list - so no worries 😅
@pocketpricer
Жыл бұрын
they included the SVD/Dragunov, and that's far rarer than the Rasheed in the states.
@Triangle26
Жыл бұрын
@@pocketpricer I don’t actually think that’s true. The SVD is far more *desirable* than the Rasheed, but not necessarily more rare. There are at least 3,000 Chinese SVDs in the US, maybe 1,000 Russians, and at least a few hundred Hungarians. Probably some others that are escaping me. There are only 8,000 Rasheed’s on the planet, and we know that they aren’t all in the US. In other words, rarity is probably pretty comparable.
@pocketpricer
Жыл бұрын
@@Triangle26 I'd agree with 1000 russians (tigr) and few hundred of the new FEGs, (no idea on chinese tbh, but your number sounds reasonable, but those are NDM-86 marked), but the original full spec russians are far rarer, with only about 100 brought in (legally). I see Rasheeds come up for sale all the time, so it'd be curious that they would be exceedingly rare, yet constantly for sale, at reasonable prices. There's been 13 for sale in past 2 months on gunbroker alone regardless, it's still an odd list, containing a lot of fairly obscure guns that havn't been imported in decades like the daewoos, would already be banned by features, or otherwise duplicative (g3 in all forms, but also springfield SAR-8 and g3), and is missing a lot of others (no sten, pps-43, m31 suomi or other tube guns). It is a strange list.

Where does this put the Browning 30-06 semi-auto hunting rifle or the M-1 Garand ? Yes to the gun control zealots, the M-1 Garand was a military rifle back in WW2. The Browning 30-06 semi-auto hunting rifle is just as capable and fast as the M-1, although it's not clip fed. It just doesn't have that "scary freak out" look factor that an "assault rifle" (what ever that means ) has. Either way, a 30-06 is a powerful cartridge. Lets be honest, you can label anything that can hurt someone with, as an "assault _______". i.e- "assault vehicle", "assault knife", "assault rock", "assault stick", etc.
@Triangle26
Жыл бұрын
As usual, the technical distinctions being made by WA State have absolutely nothing to do with actual capabilities. The Garand and the Browning are not restricted according to this legislation. The reason the SKS is included is because of the ready availability of aftermarket detachable magazines.

if it’s semi auto and has one or more of the scary features mentioned in the law it’s a assault weapon and the law applies to it. example a Ruger 10/22 that already accepts a detachable magazine and semi auto is a assault weapon by this law. even if it was not magazine fed but you install a muzzle device and it’s a semi auto then it’s a assault weapon. one more thing Aero Precision and other licensed manufacturers are exempt from this law. they can sell to the rest of the country but cannot sell to washington residents. FFLs on the other hand are screwed the only thing they will be able to sell is maybe bolt action, pistols, and some shotguns.

Due to the fact the pw arms import sks were in Albania for 30 years and legal to import by federal law I don't think people in other states who purchased rifles from them have much to worry about, but I knew even after hr 1808 was struck down where sks was excluded from the ban it would only be a matter of time before it was included. Kind of like how the definition of assult weapon keeps changing until every weapon is considered " assult weapon". I've noticed a few states referring to bolt action rifles as intermediate sniper assult weapons. Hmmm only one reason I can think of for them to redefine something to imply it means something different.
@Triangle26

I was not suggesting that people who already own PW Import rifles have anything to worry about. The rifles that are already here aren't going anywhere. This legislation would prevent PW Arms from importing *more rifles in the future* however, and that affects us all. Agree wholeheartedly on the intent with "assault weapon". The term keeps changing to include more and more, they will never stop.
