I’ve read that regular roosters that are much larger can injure a bantam hen when mounting them….I wanted to free range them all together…what do you say? He has been mounting the bantams and I’ve taken him off as I didn’t know…

My feisty OEGB's don't house well with others lol. They all think they are 10' tall and bulletproof. Thankfully they are people friendly as my mature males have huge spurs for their size.

Yeah. Bantams in general have a huge attitude. And think they are the biggest.

@@BIGFeathersFarm you are still very correct in what you said. I even have 1 run with 26 game bantams that were brooder mates. Almost 50/50 male to female. They are fully grown but still young, none of the hens laying until next spring. The roosters bicker with one another every now and again but all has been peaceful. I suspect next spring though, I'll have some issues if I do not remove some males.

Our rooster to hen ratio with our bantams is 3:5 and they do pretty ok. The hens lay as they should be and the roosters don’t fight that much.

@@BIGFeathersFarm Hope I continue to have such luck. Building isn't cheap and winter is just around the corner now. I have a lot of work to do to prepare my birds for Appalachian Winter. These bannies do not love the cold 🥶

@@johndough5854 good luck getting your bantams ready for the winter. In fact, mine love the winter. They absolutely loved playing with the snow last year!!!

Hey hello, I have a question for you: how can you tell the difference between Bantam and regular sizes chickens when they are little?
@BIGFeathersFarm

When they are little the bantam chicks will still be much smaller than the regular size chicks
