The first dozen or so chapters of Genesis are absolutely fundamental to an understanding of the rest of the Bible. If one does not take what was written as literal, real and actual, rather than figurative or allegorical, then nothing in the rest of the Scriprures will make any sense at all. If one does not believe in a literal first Adam, then believing in Jesus as the last Adam won't make sense. Understanding that God created ex nihilo is vital to our understanding of His divinity, omnipresence, omnipotence, infallibility and altogether otherness. Otherwise He would be like we are - imperfect, frail and fallible.

1:20:20 it was actually John Philoponus who first came up with this argument that Alghazaly later plagiarised.

The out-of-the-park evidence that it means ex nihilo is that MANY pagans criticized Christians for this views and until AD 400, not one father said "well it could mean something else." Not one. They defended the reading as being ex nihilo. And not one rabbinical person (KZitem randomly removes certain words lol) criticized Christians for it because they had the same reading!

@ 55:30 it's 10 days between the Ascension and the Pentecost. I know you're good, Anthony, but not even you can make them both fall on a Sunday 😃 The Ascension, in fact, was on a Thursday.

Disagree with Anthony and Tony on the Sabbath, the Sabbath is and always had been Saturday Jesus himself had a custom of worshiping on Sabbath so if we are Christians we should just do the things Christ did since he is our PERFECT example.

Every day Heiser steps closer and closer to Mormonism. I hope he commits soon so I can stop hearing about his horrible teachings and people actually start treating him the way he needs to be.

He is a bit too gullible accepting modernist and late rabbinical reinterpretation. He knows enough Bible to got get misled by the most ridiculous things, but he should learn the early fathers better. He isn't at all Mormon. You shouldn't mistake his desire to use Old Testament terminology for polytheism. He is actually more careful than the late medieval use of words like demons (wrongly applied to fallen angels vs unclean spirits). I also would much prefer if he would used Hosts vs Council because we don't need to emphasize what wasn't emphasized.

@@toomanymarys7355 If he has to constantly remind everyone that he isn't a polytheist, has to have other people constantly clarify he isn't teaching polytheism, and spend the majority of his ministry correcting his own followers that are concluding polytheism, it's probably because he's teaching polytheism.

@@ShadyOakMinistries "the majority of his ministry"? I listened to more than a hundred of his podcasts and this is just way off.
