Batten down the hatches tonight Alvin. I think your side of the island will bare the brunt of hurricane Beryl looking at the latest forecast. Stay safe.

Alv, don't forget that you need to allow for the pipe to expand. Also go for the copper and insulation, can't understand why it isn't 22mm, you'd get better flow

Hey Matt, thanks as always, copper is definitely the way forward, another job!! Where is Baston when you need him 😂

Hi Alvin great to see you back. I think you should invest in a copper pipe solution for these exposed pipes in the long term. Copper is naturally UV-resistant, also you can use copper pipe crimping tool instead of solder joints for a faster, labour saving job. Best of luck mate, thanks for a great vlog.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I agree copper is the way forward with insulation, more expense but definitely better than plastic.

Hey Alvin, ever thought about popping the rivets of the 4" panel on the side for access. Put a block of wood under the 45 elbow for more stabilization.

I have seen people use pool noodles for that type of work, yes the ones you take in the pool to float on. Paint them before install to prevent the sun from deteriorating them.

That has to be better than nothing. You would think for $5-6k they would do this in the quote.

Most people have those systems for decades before problems. Most get Manufacturer install it.

We did have the manufacturer install it, that is why i am a little confused why they have used such small pipework with no insulation!

Nice to see you back! Why wasn't the system installed near where the pipes exit the roof? This would reduce the length of the pipework dramatically. The angle of the solar panels IMO should be increased to promote rainfall cleaning the salty residue off them - are they facing South...looks like West - but I may be wrong?. What caused the plastic pipe to fracture so dramatically in the first place - was it too much pressure? The reddy brown staining on the roof is Sahara sand residue - which we've had a lot of this year in the rain. Do you have immersion heater elements in the tanks for prolonged cloudy days or to quickly heat up water if you have a lot of guests? (From time to time you'll need to change the sacrificial anodes - as we have done once already). We went with Sunpower for the total installation. Not sure why you bought your first tank from Kooymann rather than the manufacturer - did Kooymann do the install? I think you need to find a way to cover the Pressure Relief Valve - that lever looks very prone to salty air attack. Do they not have a valve with a dome end that seals that end of the unit. If you go with copper you will notice that the pipework and any exposed fittings mounted on your roof (which is so close close to the Atlantic Ocean) will drastically change in colour from its original shiny copper to a very bright green or blue. That's the effects of the salt water starting to eat away at the copper decreasing its life span significantly. With this high level of corrosion, you can expect that the life span of the pipe and fittings to almost half - you will start to see small pin prick leaks develop and on sections of the pipes where it has been joined/bends formed etc small splits developing all causing these materials to leak. Stainless steel may be an option if tanks are moved nearer to where pipework exits the roof - I would move them anyway. I would get Solar Dynamics to do the re-plumbing as you're using their tanks. You'll get a guarantee then. (I sent you an email on 16th April - not sure if you got it). As I said - it's nice to see you back!

@@barbadosbeachhousebuild Hi Alvin, we're leaving on 3rd July so everything pretty hectic at the moment as you can imagine. We'll be back in January for another 6 months. I knew the A&R guy at Chrysalis - TYA's label - when I moved down South in the early '70s. (I have a test pressing of one of TYA's albums somewhere at home in UK!) Like you, I love project managing builds. Wish I could have found your channel at the beginning. Best of luck for the future.
