Naive innocence with an occasional undercurrent of danger. That's what Eden brought to the character.

Jeannie called Tony master because she's a genie and he's the master, that was his title. But he wasn't! She always did what she wanted to. People always want to compare Jeannie to Bewitched. But Samantha always helped out Darren while Jeannie had her own mind. In a strange way Jeannie was far more independent than Samantha.

The hottest woman I've ever seen. I got a major crush on her since the "I dream of Jeannie" show re-runs I watched with my mother back in the 80's, it was my mom's favorite show back in the 60's when she was little girl and introduced me to the show on the re-runs and frankly I could not take my eyes off of Jeannie, the most beautiful, sweetest girl in the world!

Jeannie was never a "slave". She knew what she wanted, and what she DIDN'T want. She called Tony Nelson "Master" because that was part of her ancient heritage of being a genie...but that didn't mean she had to ACT like one. Barbara once said, "She was always SAYING 'Yes, master', but she was doing her own thing".

I like this interview. However, I somewhat disagree with your comment about Samantha. Sam wasn't afraid to admit if she overlooked something or make a mistake and had a more "reasonable" head on her shoulders. Jeannie had kind of a "dumb blonde" approach at times.

"YES MASTER !!" I loved it whenever Jeannie said that! This was before women's lib (lip) came onto the scene. :))
