You're talking about your performance as if it's lacking... sure, you can always do better but that doesn't mean you didn't do good in this match. That landmine was a big factor in your whole score, even breacher division. But that's Brutality - besides gear, physical preparedness and skill there is also a wild factor of "luck" that can range from unfortunate fuckups to unexpected weather changes. Honestly i wasn't giving it my 100% like the last years but what helped me win this damn thing is getting zero penalties and all bonuses through the match. For next year i can tell you my trick, i just watched Admin giving it all and absolutely shredding through some of the stages and that motivated me 😅 It was an amazing match and hands down, the best Brutality i have attended

Radical video! A bit of advice on the hammer swinging, from a longtime wood-splitter: You want to start by measuring the end of the swing, hand on hand at the bottom of the shaft, head touching the target, and plant your nondominant foot; then step back with your dominant foot and choke up with your power (dominant) hand all the way up to the head. Ian’s ‘kinetic chain’ as it were was good, but you want to make sure you slide the hand all the way through the swing, having your hands meet beyond/through the target. Breacher looks awesome! I haven't done much shooting overall, but I must say I appreciate the inclusion of the physicality in these matches! The tire hammering is very much what we do as a part of the "old" style firefighters' fitness test, just with bunker gear. Oh, and we *very much DO* hot sauces here as well! There are some local brands that make actually hot stuff (how'd you like one with over 50% Trinidad Scorpion?), and a number of farms growing chilli locally. Next time you're over here, ask around and you'll likely find someone that can point you to good sauces - they're in most shops these days, even those that barely sell foodstuff.

As a guy with a very similar build to yourself, might I suggest you want to take a look at pull-ups (wide, narrow, chin-up and behind the neck) as well as suspension training to work on your physical strength instead of just push-ups. I do a huge amount of kettlebell work in between pull-ups and push ups, but I've found the biggest strength gains for lifting, throwing and cutting wood with a splitter or axe came from adding in supersets of pull-ups into the mix. Anyway, you had a great year and coming halfway is a fantastic result!

Yeah, i kept thinking that to train for what i was seeing here, i'd prob try to do so while wearing gear and/or carrying loads... brutality indeed. xD _ i don't mind running/running training, but i don't know that i have ever ran a marathon. I've tried regular (daily) run-training of 1-2 miles vs 3-8 & for me personally after i hit about 2-3 miles my knees start saying "stop". With minimal training (a few weeks maybe) if i push myself, i can do 1-2 miles at reasonable speeds 1 mi(3.2k?) under 6 min (3k under 6min?)...2 mi(6.4k?) under ~14 min. More casual training was like 3.5k under 8 min and 7k under 16 min maybe? How that would go if i had to do it repeatedly through a single day though i cannot say. Brutal for sure! _ _As for working on power-muscle; to get most bang-for-buck, what i used to do during futbol off-season (1/3 of the year ish) was a minimal power-workout. E.g. set of basic like benchpress, fly curls, dips, pull-ups, bicep/tricep curls maybe, combined with whatever leg power stuff you want to do.... but split it all up so you get a day or 3 of rest each week and only do half your body each day [for power workout]). free-wt. or equiv. mostly but maybe machines too, for variety/slightly different angles, if you have access to both, so you don't get that unnatural Gymbro look too much hehe.
