The strongest take from this video is how consistent Greta is on her message since the beginning of her directorial career. So much respect for never changing and sticking to a mission that she is trying to express through films. Each film shares similar themes and it's not just "remaking the same movie" over and over. Impressive.
@KVLTFILM

Greta is an intellectual mess - so much wasted potential; why are people really hailing her as a great director? (The highest form of) Cinema is achieved when there's philosophical harmony, something Greta's films seriously lack, especially Barbie. She seems to have the hand (technique) but not the head and the heart; she can't accurately represent themes and ideas causing her films to lack spirit. This is so undeniably true that Barbie became a self-parody satire loved by conservative audiences... there are even people saying Greta is antifeminist (?!) and Werner Herzog thinks "Barbie World" is "sheer hell"; that's how effective her message is, so there's nothing impressive about it.
@recreatio
6 ай бұрын
@@KVLTFILM So, you're saying that her message was not effective because a couple people got the wrong idea? The opinions of a few people, and even someone as prestigious as Werner Herzog, do not diminish the impact and significance of Gerwig's work. Barbie made it's mark, whether you like to think so or not.

Greta has a way with realism in character. It's wonderful, since with the most movies, it's clearly actors portraying characters. But with her work, you find it more as being real people on screen, watching through their actual lives. It doesn't mean they're any less eccentric or unique, but it give a connection and truth to those characters you can easily relate to. It's especially apparent in Lady Bird, but even in the pink dreamscape of Barbie, you feel the same real human aspects. Not an easy feat to get right every time. Dodford knocking it out of the park again. Just like Greta has her real characters, the subjects of the documentaries are yours. Already eager for the next one, let's go 👏

I really dig this video style that edits many clips together to tell a story. It requires more work and engagement from the viewer which is a good thing and rare nowadays. it's like how blockbuster movies nowadays don't have confidence in their audience to get it, but movies like No Country for Old Men are considered classics and they age very well. At the same time, I do miss the old video style with you in it. This video style feels almost a little impersonal, and narration would help bring a stronger connection with the viewer. Also, I think a narration helps with setting the tone and mood better. Arguably the videos that "put you on the map" were the Nuardwar, Glover, and Spielberg videos. And I think the reason those hit big was because of not only your editing but perhaps more so your narration. Obviously, don't change your style just to appeal to more people. But I think it might be cool to sprinkle in a video here and there that has narration, just to keep it diverse.

This feeling continues beyond the length of this video. Words are useless for how I feel. I just feel, in love, watching this. I unconditionally love what I just experienced. Thank you for making the videos the way you do. You aren't making them "logically for retention", you're making them with heart, passion & curiosity. It allows me to give them further appreciation and respect for their craft and understanding of the choices they made.
