I LOVE BARE! I usually never leave comments because I'm really shy but I feel like not enough people know about this one. I was helping out backstage a few years ago for a production of bare (my dad was the pianist, I was his page turner), and I joined in rather late in the production. It was an incredible experience and I fell in love with this musical. I never actually got to see the play as I was backstage, but so much of the story is told through the songs alone due to the musical not really having many spots without music in them, that I feel like I know every plot point there was despite not seeing it. I certainly still know the songs off by heart. Sister Chantelle was played by a black woman in the production I was assisting in, and I think that is the idea. However, it's not the only play I've seen where a character known as being African-American was played by a white woman. I saw a production of RENT a few years ago who had the role of Joanne played by a petite blonde woman. She rocked it and had a killer voice! There's a lot I love about this play and I could go on and on, but I think instead I'll go listen to the Bare soundtrack. OH! And I love the line delivered by Sister Chantelle at the end of "God Don't Make No Trash" where she tells Peter "No one has all the answers, remember this lesson well. If you hide from yourself, be someone else for someone else's sake, that would be the greatest mistake." I think everyone needs to hear that at some point, no matter what race, religion or sexuality they have. GREAT review! I very much enjoyed this. Apologies for the ramble.

Sister Chantelle is supposed to be played by an African American woman. She mentions being black a few times and she is usually played by a black woman.

I love bare! It's so fucking upsetting though! Also I could could go on and on for a million years about musical recommendations but my three favorites are Next to Normal, Spring Awakening, and Cabaret and you should absolutely go see them if you ever get the chance!

I listened to bare for the first time a few weeks back. And I’m so obsessed! Like this might be my new all time favorite show. Why isn’t it more popular???!

bare is one of my favorite musicals of all time, i love it soooooo much and i'm so glad you enjoyed it!! some other great shows to check out would be heathers, rent, in the heights, into the woods, a gentleman's guide to love and murder, wicked, and of course hamilton. one thing i'll say about musicals in general is that i know seeing them in person is the best way to experience them but if you're interested in a musical and don't have the means to see it you should totally just listen to the soundtrack and maybe try to find a recording of it because you can experience so many more shows that way.

I love bare so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I wish there was a performance near where I live. Some of my other favorite musicals are Hamilton (I know it's really hyped up right now but it really is great), Fun Home, Spring Awakening, and The Last Five Years. And you can never go wrong with Wicked.

Bare is an incredible musical! It has changed a lot in how I see certain things. The music is amazing, the Romeo and Juliet subtext or whatever is beautiful, the characters are just incredibly compelling. I'm so glad the cast in your country and/or town was so amazing! This musical needs powerful and moving voices and it's great you got to see it with a talented cast. My favorite song (currently) is Once upon a time, although Role of a Lifetime is really close. Bare is heavily influenced by one of my favorite musicals of all time, Spring Awakening. It's just aaa gorgeous.

My friend suggested I watch Bare a while ago, so after watching your review, I think its about time I give it a look haha. My favourite musicals are Hairspray, and my favourite play is probably A Midsummer Night's Dream :) I was wondering if you were going to do a 2017 Read-A-Thons video, similar to what you did at the end of last year. You're the queen of read-a-thons, so I always turn to your videos to see what's going on haha :)

I'm not a typical reader. In fact I'm not reading books at all anymore. But now that I've discovered you I'm curious. What is the motivation behind reading a book? I mean, if I want a good story I just watch a movie or something. What makes books so good? I'm after a good answer :)

Could you make a video sometime about how you deal with large large large books? In regards especially to Goodreads challenges. The reason I ask... I was looking over some of the books I'm planning to read this year and realized that some of the Game of Thrones books are 2 or 3 times larger than even some of the larger books from other series I was planning to read (like Vampire Academy). Do you give up on the gigantic books like GoT when trying to finish a challenge or do you just read it bit by bit while also reading shorter books so that you can keep up with the challenge but also eventually finish the larger one? I'm trying to figure out my gameplan so just wondering if you had any suggestions or tips.
