They are definitely worth saving, if only for the parts. Having restored a few cars myself, obtaining a complete donor that’s beyond repair for all the little bits of trim is invaluable. The bits I didn’t use, all ended up with other restorers. And also the scrapman loves me for bringing him very clean stripped out remains. Everbody happy.

In the last video I said the mystery car may be a Saab but, and I promise this is true, I later thought it must be an old Skoda but I didn't know which one. I am not sure if it will be of any value to someone but the Skoda lovers will know. The triumph 1300 looks a bit sad but they tended to rot back in the day as did many cars of that era. The ADO16 MG 1100 would be worth saving for parts at the very least, the grill and even the engine. A good one could cost you 10K. I must say hello to Josh, well done for helping Mum And Dad. Elton, Land Rovers are designed to be worked on 'in the bush'. 😁 Thank you Claire and Elton for this interesting video. 👍👍

I used to hang around Kirby's when I had my Mk1 Cortina 50 years ago. That was a time when you were allowed to climb all over the stacks of cars to get what you wanted. Probably not allowed in scrap yards today. The good thing was, you could chuck the expensive stuff over the fence and go round and collect it later...

There's something on every car, that can make at least one other car go back on the road, so yes, they are all worth saving, it could just take forever to find that one person who needs the part, so if the value is measured in money, no, none of them is worth saving, but in anything else, yes they are all worth saving.

The Triumph 1300 has a starter motor mounted on the other side of the flywheel. Subsequently it turns in the opposite direction to most cars. I fitted one to my cortina and spent a couple of days trying to work out why it wouldn’t start. Turning my engine backwards did it no good at all😳

@UKBarnFinds

Hi, they are a mixture of ‘only worth scrap money when parked up’ and ones that appear to have been used for motorsport. The owner had some land and parked them, rather than scrapped them. A fellow ‘car romantic’ who wanted them all to be saved, I guess. It would be so rewarding if any of these saw the road again.

Correct, it is a 1275cc engine but can't see if it was the standard 9 stud head as used in the standard 1300's or the 11 stud head solid wall block as used in the Riley 1300, MG 1300 or Austin/Morris 1300 GT, It could even be the rare 1275cc Cooper 'S' engine which was the only 1275cc that had tappet chest removable covers like the small cc A series engines, it's definately not the A + Metro 1275cc

Our first car was a Y reg Fiat 126. Made in Poland our second was a Skoda 120 B reg. Both utterly useless pieces of junk. Totally rubbish. So many problems I don't know where to start. Curiously, the Skoda was, for some reason really easy to park, apart from that utter disaster. Every fluid, petrol to brake leaked. I did wonder if Skoda has spent a little more on better parts, rust proofing etc, etc, etc, it could have been a great little car.

The ultimate in manscaping and mansplaining lol. Ragtops here in the states are always a nightmare due to rust under the vinyl roof tops. You've looked to your left, right, straight ahead, I think if you looked up in the air you might find a car in the sky with this field find. Do you earn combat pay with fighting those nettles m8? Because I always warn my American family to avoid them whenever we visit the British Isles. The cars that you folks find are more than the sum values in cost, as their moments in time, reveal long past emotional memories of my childhood living in the 60's and 70's High Wycombe England and Ireland as well for a longing of those days of lore. TY. Yes they are worth saving as the old adage here in the states recalls " There always an ass for every seat" purports too.
