“Open your brain tank, Brah” Barney Stinson is easily one of the greatest characters in television history. He’s easily better than every character on friends and that includes Chandler and it’s tough because I actually love Mr. Bing, but Barney is on whole another spectrum. Props to NPH for really bringing this character to life. No else can do it better.

@2013branth
7 жыл бұрын
Or maybe he's teaching the art of persuassion and determination? Ever thought of that? Not everybody in the world is out to get you.
@CritticalAngel
7 жыл бұрын
+Anthony I don't get what you mean, the art of persuasion and determination would be turning a NO into a YES. And I also don't understand the last part, where did you get the idea that I thought everyone is out to get me?
@2013branth
7 жыл бұрын
CritticalAngel "Rape culture", how does the art of persuassion and by extension seduction, equate to rape culture? That's what I'm asking. The last part, refers to the fact that anyone who thinks that rape culture exists in modern democracies, generally are paranoid and have not done any proper research.
@CritticalAngel
7 жыл бұрын
+Anthony I can agree on you there, sometimes a person might not be interested at first but with the right amount of persuasion or seduction, they might change their mind, nothing wrong with that. However, I don't agree with you on the modern day thing, I'm not particularly paranoid about rape, but I was made believed by my parents that I cannot go out at night and that I should be accompanied if I want to go out during daylight, because of the dangers that are out there. I don't know about you, or what your experience is with this type of situation, but you can't cancel out or diminish people who have been raped by stating that rape culture does not exist nowadays.
@2013branth
7 жыл бұрын
CritticalAngel Yes, I can, with stats. Is there an institution (a legal one i.e. a legally registered one) in the western world that actively promotes rape? Is there an organisation in the western world that publically endorses it? I have scoured hell and high water for an organisation in the western world that outright supports rape? There is no rape culture. If you claim that there is a rape culture, you are suggesting that there is an institution that supports rape, that rape is not only condoned, but supported and endorsed. By promoting the idea that a rape culture exists, what you've done is now you've removed the onus on the individual, and placed it on society as a whole. Rape is a heinous crime committed willingly by an individual for whatever reason. It is not a societal thing, it is the action of an individual. So by saying that rape culture doesn't exist in the western world, I am not cancelling out the victims or silencing them, or blaming them. I am doing the opposite. I'm reducing hysteria, and refocusing on the actual causes and factors that lead to rape. Rape is not a cultural factor in the western world. It can be objectively traced to an individual who was going to commitee the crime. I recommend you read this: www.rainn.org/images/03-2014/WH-Task-Force-RAINN-Recommendations.pdf Also, as a guy, at night I'm statistically more likely to be violently assualted than a woman is to be sexually assualted.
