barr is loathsome overall in his outlook and conduct, but in this circumstance, he's not pulling too many punches from landing on trump, especially given barr's own (awful) baseline positions and loyalties. He basically suggested that trump's guilty, the election was fair & accurate, trump''s unqualified to be president, & the case here against is justified & reasonably strong (albeit he questions if he would have charged it). For a republican stooge, that's not bad (in terms of having some tether to reality on this matter).

It's the cost of freedom. It's bettter than the alternative - jailing people for what they say. That means the government decides what you may or may not say and by extension has the power to outlaw political movements.

I’m all for free speech but why do congressman and Senators get away with blatantly lying, saying the most disgusting, outlandish things. If MPs in the U.K. parliament came out with the bile, racism and lying these lawmakers do they would be suspended, or have to resign. Do you not have a law for hate speech crime? As much as I dislike the politicians in my country, they would never get away with what Marjory Taylor Green, Gosart and other vile republicans come out with.

I heard Eastman was/will be named as a co-conspirator to separate him from someone who'd provide legal counsel. Jack Smith has thought this through. I agree that an "I was just listening to my attorney" is a lame defense when so many others told Trump the election wasn't "stolen". It makes Trump look like he shopped for someone who'd tell him what he wanted to hear.

In the indictment, Eastmen is most likely the person already identified as co-conspriartor number 2. It's more a queation of whether or not he will be indicted or is already a cooperating witness. With Trump so ready to throw him under the bus, I think the likelihood that he WILL cooperate goes up.
@ModMINI
Жыл бұрын
The separation of charges was likely to allow it to move expeditiously through court. Adding co-defendants would give Trump too many levers to slow things down. Trump would be barred from choosing one of his codefendants to represent him in this case. (Most of them are getting disbarred anyway)

@@ModMINI I meant Trump would say he took bad legal advice from Eastman before J6. Jack Smith would say Eastman was helping plan the coup conspiracy and wasn't functioning as an attorney. But I didn't think of the other four - the same would apply to them. That might leave Trump's only "legitimate" attorneys as those who told Trump the election wasn't stolen.. and that's not hearsay.

Kaitlan does an amazing job of listening to the answers given to her and sensing when to double or triple down on a question. Perhaps, she has a really good producer in her ear, but either way, the interviews she does feel very genuine and a bit unpredictable. She takes her job/career serious and it shows! These are dangerous times and it is so refreshing to see a solid cable news host take their role with responsibility and stay away from making lame jokes and yucking-it-up with guests/panelists.
