Aha , now i see the situation you had , so barring that off was definitely the only way to go . But a crow bar would be too heavy to wield at that distance , so your pipe invention was lighter and worked perfect . Great Job !!!! Hopefully now you can get at the bottom of that vein a little safer now . Excellent !!! 👌👍👍 Cheers Ned . ✌

thanks Ned, I'm still a little afraid of using a roto hammer down there, there's still little pieces coming down but I think the big deadly ones are down now.

Thanks Kev, I've got some work to do before it's safe to go after that gold. If I had any sense at all I probably wouldn't even be messing around down there.

That's actually reasonably course looking gold for hardrock 👍Although like you said you might be losing allot of the ultra fine stuff in the spiral, lol. I've had good luck with my 5ft long gutter sluice running my WA State beach cons.

This vein can produce from +20 to almost microscopic gold. I run a dream mat sluice out of the ball mill and it seems to get a lot of the fine gold, but on a small scale and budget I expect to have losses. Thanks for watching.

I have to do it for enjoyment because I spend more than I ever find in gold.

This heat has been truly brutal! Feeling very lucky to live on the river!

You are lucky, I bet the kids spend most of the day in the water. I feel like I want to go to the mine but I know I'll only last about an hour so it's not worth going. It looks like we might get a break next week.

@@TheRedWingMine-pm3lz fingers crossed, this heat has been tiring, but yes, the kids spend every afternoon swimming while I nap on the shady river bank.

You could just use a little red wagon on some plywood tacked to some 2x4s and a hand winch [a boat winch I think would be the best kind for that] to roll the ore out of the pit. Any little box on wheels would work, just something that holds a few pounds of ore that you can roll up to the top and dump, and let it roll back to the bottom to refill. Admittedly, if you are 100% all on your own, that might be harder than just dragging buckets up by rope, because getting up and down multiple times for every dump could really take it out of ya. Lucky me I have a track loader.

I had my track loader (850 case) in there about 30 years ago but got worried about the whole thing collapsing under me, since I don't know how big or deep that thing was originally. with some work I could get my quad in there though.
